Excellent work. Not sure if this is intended for a certain system, but it would be a great adventure for Electric Bastionland ,Troika or Swyvers, with setting whiffs of Planescape and the Rainy City.
I really like the design and the map looks great--but you should just number the locations, the dotted lines are pretty hard to see!
I liked the subversion of the title, I think that's the neat thing about this Jam. Clear writing, and cool cover, but I had a lot of trouble with the keying on the map. The dotted lines pointing to each location was just a lot of information to take in. You made the city feel alive and lived in, which is a feat in and of itself for this little space! I would have loved to see something to point the PCs in the right direction, even if the GM is picking the location!
This one is such a fun location, there is a lot of character in this city there is a good level of intrigue and skullduggery to be had!
The presentation is overall really solid, The map itself is cool and well implemented, but the black lines for the paths and the dotted lines to each key blend in a bit/don't stand out enough for me.
You could get away with making the lines a bit wider or a different colour/border to stand out more perhaps to help make it easier to parse?
Only other issue I see is that he weathered page effect might be a bit too strong in the bottom left corner of page 2, as the text is a bit tricky to read.
Small presentation quibbles aside this is a great location that I'll definitely be using in a game!
Could easily fit into almost any adventure, very nice, and I love that it has a decently fleshed-out setting!
Immediately knew I'd like to use this, looks like a great city crawl.
Special shout out to the two encounters you can encounter again, memorable stuff.
One thing it'd be nice to see is another encounter that varies based on which district you're in or under.
Thanks, Lowborn, we really wanted to put more info, but had so little room after cramming the map and location data in there. The team has talked about making an extended edition of this module and we would definitely like to include more varied encounters by district.
Siren's Watch looks awesome, I love the tower map you drew. The Crab King is really fun.
Very nice to see a city adventure, and you gave the city a lot of character. Well done.
We didn't originally intend for the city to be such a grungy place, but the tone naturally developed over time as we wrote location descriptions. There was a point where the team realized we had made a really scummy city and absolutely fell in love with it.
I took a quick look at Caves of Hither and Yon, I'm super jealous of the typewriter script you used. I wanted something similar to that for Way to Wellerman Square, but we never found one that quite fit. The Ogre love letters are very funny and clever. They have a whimsy that is missing from Wellerman Square.
I like the idea and the general feeling, along with the references to the song! Feels interesting and probably fleshed out enough to last more than a one shot.
Hi, thanks for the review Kernel! I stared at the adventure long enough to forget that the song was something we referenced. We would be very surprised if this was ran as a single game, it is rather chunky. We like to think of it as the seed that would start a long term campaign.
Your artwork on Hidden Empire was a huge inspiration for Angelina, the team member that made our cover. She is delighted you commented on our work!
A lot of nice ideas, good layout and structure. I really like what you did with your title!
Thank you for the review Knurrkater! We were worried about our title at first, especially when so many other titles in the list felt more obviously 'fantasy adventure'. It took us a bit to find our inspiration, but ultimately we are very happy with the module.
I love the artwork you used for Apostles of the Burnt Augur. The layout is really fun!
