Hey everyone 👋
I’m preparing to release my Android app XVerse Flashlight on Google Play and I need a few testers to help with the closed testing phase required by Google.

🧪 What’s required

  • Install the app via Google Play (test link)

  • Stay opted-in for 14 days

  • No daily usage required — just keep it installed

  • Feedback is optional but appreciated 🙏

📌 Who can join

  • Anyone with an Android phone

  • You must be logged into the same Google account on your phone that you’ll use to install the app

  • A Gmail address is required (only for Google Play testing access)

🔗 How to join

  1. Join my Discord server:
    XVerse Realmhttps://discord.gg/h9zvuw4u

  2. Go to the #android-testing channel

  3. Post your Gmail address (or DM a mod if you prefer privacy)

  4. I’ll add you to the tester list and send the Google Play testing link

🚀 Why help?

Google Play requires a short closed testing period before public release.
By helping, you’re supporting an indie developer and getting early access ❤️

Thanks a lot!

Hi, I published my first app in March, so I already went through the closed testing phase. It was so complicated for me because I don’t know 12 Android users. Took me three attempts to make it through testing.

But I would say that you do need feedback, because after the 14 days they will make you try another 14 days if you don’t get enough engagement or feedback. I wish you luck.

Can you skip that eventually?

The closed testing? No, it’s required for all apps. If you have enough testers, it’s fine. I just found it annoying because I had to get hold of contacts my family had in order to get all the people I needed.

but they say its for new users

I’m pretty sure it’s every time you want to publish the app because that’s the standard review process. I did try to make a second app listing and it still wanted me to get through to the closed testing phase. What they probably mean by that is the cutoff is something like November 2024 (Might be a different date) where all new apps beyond that have to go through that testing phase.

Even as a company?

Yes, I believe so.

Hi all — fellow Flutter dev here 👋 I'm a solo developer and I need

closed testers for my app on Google Play so I can apply for production

access (need 12 testers for 14 days).

App: Resona — a voice training app with real-time pitch, resonance and

weight feedback, fully on-device (no audio ever recorded or uploaded).

Everything's unlocked for testers, no ads, no sign-in.

Quick to try: open Live Analysis, say "ahh", and see if the meters

track your voice — that's the main feedback I need.

1. Join the group: https://groups.google.com/g/resona-testers

2. Opt in: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.dgdevelop.resona

Happy to test your app back — drop your link in the comments.

I can help with this — I've been through the exact same 12-tester wall myself, which is actually why I ended up building PeerPlay (a free reciprocal testing exchange). Happy to just test yours directly if you'd rather not deal with another platform — send the Google Group / opt-in link whenever you're ready.
