Okay. I don't get it. I am going to assume the monsters are evil and I need to fight them to save the world. How do I know which monster I am fighting? Why make cakes? Just why? The odd of rolling 11 or higher on three D4 is 6%. And I need to do this three times to beat one monster. The odds of rolling 9 or higher is 31% The odds of rolling 8 or higher is 50%. Assuming I had to roll 9 or higher the game would still not be interesting, because I never got to make a meaningful choice. I must forage, I must fight a monster, I must roll three D4, I must bake something if able. If I did beat the impossible odds and beat all the monsters then what? This is not a game it is a chore.

  The art is nice. :)

A T-rex with tiny arms never seen that before. I am sorry I hate this game. Don't let it get you down. As they say "Cling against the torment. Fight with all you know. Don't let go. Just grow."

Thank you for the criticism! It is greatly appreciated!

You bring up some great points. With the constraints of the game jam, I was doing a lot of implementing of different mechanics, and in trying to create, combine, and explain it all, some of it made it to the cutting room floor.

Who knows? Maybe I will revisit it again in the future to improve the game, or maybe I will learn from this submission and make stronger games in the future.

I do love the fact that you hate this game. You are the first commenter to openly tell me how much you hate it and in great detail. Thank you for that! It helps a lot!

Glad I could help. :)

Hi there! I haven't checked out Monster Cake Bundter yet, but I was made aware of a social media post about a negative comment and found this.

The rules for the jam state: "If you choose to leave comments, please keep things positive and uplifting 😃". And while there are some solid points here, the overall comment is not positive and uplifting. Specifically, "This is not a game it is a chore" and "I hate this game" are especially not positive or uplifting. If you'd like to point out critique, please do it as gently as possible, and if you have harsh feedback, ask if someone wants to hear it first.

You've been a wonderful part of our community for a long time, and I consider you a friend :D I'm always delighted to see what you create.  You probably don't realize that reading these things as a creator can be very discouraging and hurtful. I gave up as a video game creator in part due to negative comments and feedback, and it's very important to us that the comments and feedback for our jams remain positive and uplifting.

If you have any questions or comments about this, please email us at bethandangelmakegames@gmail.com
