I wanted to get above a minute, but I got a bit annoyed about a few things. The dash streak goes through the perimeter; you could just add, like, a boundary sprite on top of that to stop it. There needs to be a reset button. I think the timer should only start when you start moving. The sounds need some variety. The Zs on the thumbnail is different then the pickups. I'd like to give high marks because I like it, but because it is such a small game, half of the rating for audio would be to like have variety, and that goes with the other ratings.

I do like the Flash game vibe. I think you thought about picking up two Zs at the same time for the audio, which would be a good eye if you did. At first I was like, does this really follow the theme, but after thinking about it, it does. I think there is potential in bringing the game out of the Flash game vibe and adding different levels, items, and mechanics.
8/10, flippin got 59 instead of 60 on my third attempt, which means I SHALL NEVER GIVE MORE THAN 8  for you have doomed me. I'll come back someday....

Through the perimeter

You mean the walls? Yh.. 😅 I did the complete game on the last day basically, in a ~2 hrs (Scoping issue from my end) [Livestream 🙈]

you could just add, like, a boundary sprite on top of that to stop it

Yh, the dash is basically a line between your previous position and current position. I can fix it easily by making the line to current position, instead of where the player might’ve been currently after dash.

There needs to be a reset button.

I could add it, when will it might be useful though?

The sounds need some variety.

Yes

8/10, flippin got 59 instead of 60 on my third attempt, which means I SHALL NEVER GIVE MORE THAN 8 for you have doomed me

xD that’s fair. Have a good sleep. See you in Brackeys. Thanks for playing.

Well, for the reset button, if I do, like, a complete whiff and waste two seconds, then it pretty much is a dead run, but there might be ten seconds left, so I'm there waiting for ten seconds.

Developer

BTW added you in leaderboard. 59s is crazy 😶‍🌫️

The game is simple but delivers what it promises. Kinda addictive even!

I've found it's best to use dash sparingly and focus on accuracy of movement. Here's my highscore:

Developer

Damn! 50s is soo good, added you on the leaderboard :)

Very nice, well made, simple yet addicting game you made here. I played a few times and got a score of 41 as my final and I feel pretty good about that. I saw in another comment you made that you might plan to do some post jam dev work on this and that would be awesome! I'd love to see what other ideas you have to expand it. The gameplay loop is already there and its easy to grasp, hard to master, but addicting. I think this game can really shine from like 3 upgrades popping up after each fail/end for you to choose from. Then it kind of becomes an incremental game where you slowly power up your little guy to catch as many Z's as possible. Maybe an upgrade where big Z's will spawn that give more time, then maybe a different kind of Z that has a chain reaction to another one nearby. Just some idea's I had while playing. Excellent job on this, thanks for making and sharing it :)

Developer

Thanks for playing and those are some good ideas. I’ll consider adding those.

See you in Brackeys!

Developer

Also, I added your time in the leaderboard :) 41s is really good.

Love me some simple addictive idea!! Pretty similar to another game with the same name but I love it nontheless (i thiiink i prefer this one might be recency bias). I see the page based leaderboard (; just good job!

Developer

Pretty similar to another game with the same name

I wasn’t able to find it :( Searching for “Work” only gave “I was working boss I SWEAR” other one

I see the page based leaderboard

hehe

Nice little game! I was using wasd and had fun but i think this would be really satisfying with the full 360 directions of a controller :)

Developer

Yh, that’s a good idea, I’ll add it.

Agree with others that this, although simple, is pretty addictive. I am not good at it though and can't get very far.

Developer

Making people addicted to sleep longer :)

Fun little game! I like how addicting it is, my record is 38 seconds.

Developer

38s is soo good, tbf I haven’t slept for more than 30s xD

Really enjoyed your game! I'm sure I will be coming back to this one to try and beat my highscore :D

Developer

Surely, that reminded me to add a leaderboard. Lemme know when if you beat it, I’ll update to add you :D

Submitted(+1)

With how simple it is, I'm surprised with how addicting it is! I was personally really bad, but that honestly pushed me to play more haha. Great game!

Developer

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.

I was personally really bad

Even I’m bad at my own game xD

I got up to 51 seconds! Wow, the dash feels amazing to me personally, I love how responsive it feels and it actually feels like a dash... But it makes sense that it's hard to control so it's a tradeoff of accuracy versus speed.
You made it without an engine?! That's fricking cool. Would love to see more content personally, but I think this is the right amount of simple.
I am curious... What was the initial plan for the game?

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing. Dude 51 seconds is huge, damn.

harrd to control so it’s a tradeoff of accuracy versus speed.

Yup yup. Totally intentional (Not really, just kept it instant because of less time)

What was the initial plan for the game?

Well, My initial plan was to have hill climb like game, where you’re driving with a sleeping baby in the back. You’re supposed to balance your driving to not disturb the baby’s sleep. But that was over ambitious of me. I knew it was possible with Box2D but that doesn’t mean it’s achievable, besides I was new to Box2D and I wasn’t spending full time on the game.

This was actually my 3rd scoped down version of the idea. 2nd one was a billiards like gameplay, where you’re supposed to drop the Zs in a box, for them to be used as sleep but I didn’t have much time left for that. So, I just ended up doing pick-up the Zs to increase sleep time, and a dash mechanic to make it a little interesting.

I didn’t even wanted to do game over screen with time or game start screen, but ended up doing that + sounds on dash + pickups, so I’m pretty happy with my submission so far.

Oh yeah, I have a similar issue with overscoping, too. My past few games all had the issue of big ideas, and regretting it on the last day where I just had to throw everything together...
I had a totally different idea as well this jam, but ended up reworking it too...
Billiards sounds interesting too... But yeah, I do think the driving game would have done wonders. I loved Hill Climb Racing as a kid, I am curious how you'd manage the balance aspects...

Ohhh, so it's a synthesizer for the sound effects. I never understood how they work but it seems like a very useful tool to have...

Anyways, thanks for replying! And great work on the game

Developer

Thanks, see you in Brackeys o7

Cool game! It's simple but still exciting to play! It would be great if there were more visuals, especially for the player, and some background music. Also, the player speed (without using the dash) is a little too fast personally. Besides that, it was fun experience!

Developer

Yh, a lot could be improved in terms of visuals and audio. Thanks for playing & feedback <3

Super-simple game, but as others have mentioned, it's super addictive.  So far I've gotten 32s a bunch of times but haven't been able to break past that.  Gameplay-wise this is wonderful, and I also appreciate that it's a raylib game :)  I also liked that even though you have infinite dashes, it's a REALLY fast dash (instantaneous?) so you can't just spam it without totally losing control.  I feel like a few extra things could really push this over the edge: music, and some visual feedback when you collect items, would really help pull people in even more, I think.

Super fun!  Nice work :)

Developer

Damn! 32s is a very good sleep.

I also appreciate that it’s a raylib game

Hehe, thanks.

music, and some visual feedback when you collect items, would really help

Yh true, I put this together in a very little time in the end. The initial plan was totally different, so was happy with this for this submission at least.

The game is simple but also a wee-bit addictive 😭 although the speed might be a lil too much, besides that, Amazing game for a jam man! Keep it up!

Developer(+1)

speed might be a lil too much

yh, you lose 2 Zs a second, I though 1 Z might be too easy for people, but then I’m also struggling with this game

cute gameplay , very addicting :>  some improvments are required, but as a game jam , im impressed actually.

sometimes the simple games are the best kinda games ^^ gotta learn that.

Developer

some improvements, as a game jam, I’m impressed actually

Yess. thanks for playing. Lemme know if you have any specific improvement in mind. I might do it post jam.
