I tried it out a few years ago, and watching other people's gameplay videos now, it seems the overall structure hasn't changed much.

This game clearly has excellent character designs, models, combat feedback, action, and interactivity—everything seems perfect—but it features an absolutely terrible item and equipment system. Whenever you pick up equipment, you have to open your backpack to check its stats and decide whether to equip it, and you have to open your backpack even to use a healing potion. This really disrupts the game’s pacing.

There should be hotkeys for healing potions, and equipment should swap automatically—instead of having to open the backpack every time. (I don’t understand why equipment quality and additional abilities even matter in a side-scrolling game like this.)

It's also boring when players only have one way to attack.Back when I played the demo, the lack of a dash attack really pissed me off. There's also no invincible move that lets you break out of a corner when you're surrounded (like the whirlwind kick in many old games).

Hello!  You can pin consumables or other items to your hot bar from the inventory (see the keys/buttons shown at the bottom of the screen). Controls for selecting and using them are shown in the Options menu. This isn't covered yet in the help tutorials.

Gear will serve more of a functional purpose as the difficulty increases as areas are added.  An auto-equip toggle is an interesting idea!

Onyx will receive new attack abilities as early as the next update!  For now, use the dodge ability or slide attack to get out of corners, as they can move through enemies.
