Themes
I used one optional theme, and that was “Gotta Go Fast.” I chose this because I felt like it was a cool theme to support my project. The theme used in the game shines when the user sets the difficulty higher, causing the game to go much faster and increasing the speed while you’re playing.

Tooling
I used Godot as my game engine. I’ve used Godot before, but I tried using BeatMaster and liked it for this game, so that’s what I used for the music. I made my art in Canva, which was something I had already done before.

Oh, this is a fantastic idea. I'm rubbish at rhythm/timing games, but when I got into the groove and managed to *hit* multiple times in a row felt *really* satisfying. And I adore the way you used the central spin mechanic for the menus as well. Actually adds some stakes to the shop. And I like that you get some coins even if you don't clear the level, makes it possible to have incremental progress, which feels really nice.

Well done!

thank you!

A bit too bad everything seems to have a scale. A lot of blur, or pixels that are not the same size visually. But a nice little concept that could go a long way with some more work !

thanks for playing!

Maybe I missed something, because level 1 felt unbeatable? Not enough swords show up, the hearts barely heal, the enemy self-heals a lot, and the white tick gets crazy fast. If there’s a difficulty setting, I didn’t see it in-game. Anyways the concept is pretty cool, I just didn’t get to progress at all so I can’t rate it.

Edit: I think I just wasn’t getting high enough multipliers. Managed to get past level 1 but level 2 was already way too fast, oh well

oh lol well rhythm games aren’t for everyone me personally I got to level 22 before I started to feel sick

That was quite innovative! Love the concept of fighting through reflex aiming within the wheel - love how the concept was also ported to the main menu - I wasn't sure what the shop gave me (more hearts / swords that pop up on the wheel?) I arrived at level 12 and then my eyes started crying trying to follow the circle lol

Great job overall!

Developer

so the shop was +1 sword every time you hit the sword in a game. Thanks for playing!

Really interesting revamp of the classic timing bar mechanic! Using that same timing mechanic for the main menu was a nice, little clever touch. Great job!

Developer

thanks!

I think calling this a rhythm game is maybe a stretch, as there’s no prompts actually tied to the rhythm. Nevertheless, it was a really fun game, love the pop the lock inspo.

Developer

Well a rhythm game is like a timing game

This might be the only rhythm game I did alright. Thanks for making me feel good about myself! gg

Developer

your welcome and hope you enjoyed it!

Was able to get pretty far, but eventually, it just got too fast! :V

Was pretty fun though, and definitely has room for scalability.
