I like this game (I especially liked the little inspo bit regarding the bag of rice and the little story to go with it, lol) - but the intro could use some work.

I think the little graphics in the bottom that is used for help text could be better as “orders” potentially. E.g. “Make this,” etc. for something that is so time directed. I’m trying to fill up the bentos, or not? The goal is a bit ambiguous. The time pressure is what makes it feel off - e.g. might be cozier to make bentos according to a pattern, fulfill X and then use the earnings to upgrade.

Thanks so much for the feedback! That's a neat way to handle it, and I could see how reworking the game to "orders" makes a lot of sense. Right now the only objective is to fill the bentos with food, but it would be a fun way to have a different play style with very specific orders and no time limit to drop things in.

Ok at first I didn't understood the gameplay at all but once I figured it out, it turned out to be a really great game! The music is relaxing and the game isn't as stressful as I thought it would be. Also the interpretation of the theme is really creative.  Anyways, neat little game, good job!

I'm glad you figured it out, and I'm glad it wasn't too stressful!

I love the layering aspect of your game! Love the visuals and calm music too. It hit a nice part of my brain so I kept playing for a while :)

This was surprisingly fun! It starts off pretty simple, and rather chill, but quickly becomes hectic - though there's definitely something very satisfying about layering up something perfectly. I'd almost say having extra flashy sound effects for when you send out a box with all the trimmings to really drive home the synergy would shine here.

As it stands though, it was really fun! I liked the rolling ingredient mechanic, even if it did feel like I kept getting more sauce with no tiles left for any, and no ingredients when I needed them most. I sort of learnt the tactic is not to send boxes out right away, but build them up so you can put finishing ingredients in near the end and cash in a ton.

Really fun game with a surprising amount of depth. Very bento!

Developer

That's a great recommendation! Glad you had fun, even if the balance felt a bit off with the sauce and just-right food spawns. I'll see if I can tweak things a bit after the jam with a little extra logic to help at the end of the day, but I'm glad you found a tactic that worked for you!

Its very lore accurate to my local bento place, anything I get there the lady always gives me extra sauce so its more like bento soup.

Nice work - really fun lil cozy game!
