I think both ideas could coexist while still keeping the cuck stuff as the main focus. What if there was just ONE girl who occasionally covered the vanilla side?
The MC is a loser, so maybe give him a female equivalent — like the computer girl who looks like a typical loser girl. He could still be a loser 80% of the time, and he wouldn't suddenly have to become some stud either. A lot of what makes his dynamic with the goth girl entertaining could still work even in that scenario withouth the cuck stuff and make the story less predictable.
And if he's technically still dating the goth girl, then it's still NTR... the question is: for who?
