How does your game fit the Theme?
Now alone in your damaged station, you must watch the stars to see when it's safe to call home for a rescue.

To me, Star Gazing calls up feelings of loneliness, mystery and 'the other' -- I tried to build those themes into this space sim.

Anything else you'd like to share about your game or development process?
I bit off a little more than I could chew and burnt out some. But wanted to show what I got! I hope the feeling comes through, even if the gameplay is a bit lackluster.

I used Claude for some of the coding and to build tools for creating web audio sounds.

Really liked the art style of the game. Gameplay felt pretty hard to understand at first and didnt understand what i supposed to do.  Overall good work! Keep working. :)

Thanks for playing! Glad you were able to stick with it and hopefully figure things out. I’ll need to find a way to improve the beginning.

The game idea is good, and the flying astronaut feels really satisfying! But there were a lot of things to do, and it felt a little complicated. I didn’t really understand what I was supposed to do at the beginning.

Maybe you could add some more detailed hints that appear if the player spends too much time stuck on something. That could help without making the game too easy.

Overall, good game!

Thanks for playing! Glad you felt the flying was fun, I spent a bunch of time tuning that. Agreed about the complexity. I’d hoped to have more checklists to guide players but wasn’t able to get them all in.

Gameplay 4/5 - I really like the idea here, and flinging yourself around the station felt cool.  I do think it was a bit confusing but generally I could figure out what I was supposed to be doing.

Creativity 3/5 - Flying around and flipping switches is good, but I think it would have been nice to have some varied activities associated with the switches themselves.  I realize this is an ambitious project so that wasn't really possible here.

Art Style 3/5 - It looked fine, kinda basic but nothing stood out as really wrong or out of place.

Audio 3/5 - The sound effects and ambiance were good but I'm not a big fan of the music.

Theme 2/5 - It didn't have much to do with stars except being in space.  The thing you have to keep an eye on is an orbit, not a star.

Thanks for playing and leaving such a detailed review! Agreed it would’ve been nice to have more activities with the switches. There are some optional activities at the stations, but hard to find and aren’t yet required for anything. I’d hoped to add more.

This is a really ambitious game and definitely on theme!🌌

I liked the whole lonely space-station survival idea and the feeling of being stranded while watching Earth and the stars. The concept has a lot of potential, and the station itself has some great atmosphere. 👨‍🚀⭐

My biggest issue was figuring out what I was actually supposed to do. There are a lot of controls, indicators, and systems introduced at once, so it can feel overwhelming even when the instructions are there. I’d definitely make the first few minutes much more beginner-friendly, maybe introducing one mechanic at a time and testing it with another player to see where they get confused.

The background music also didn't really work for me and took away a little from the atmosphere. A quieter or more space-like ambient track could fit the lonely feeling better. 🎧

Still, great effort, especially for a solo jam project with such a big scope. You clearly tried something ambitious! 👏

Good luck with the jam! And if you have some time, please play my game too and leave me a review! 🙏❤️

Thanks for playing and leaving such detailed feedback! Agreed about the intro, I need a way to slowly introduce elements I think.

I’m curious about the music – was it the tracks that played or something else in the soundscape? I added them at the end, maybe better without.

Thanks!

It’s a little complicated to understand what to do at the beginning. There are many controls or indicators on the screen, which can be a bit confusing. The game has great graphics, though. Good job

Developer

Thanks for playing and leaving feedback! Maybe I can slowly introduce the UI elements to reduce confusion.
