I enjoyed it! Initially was a bit intimidated by the chemistry theme, but the description explained the mechanics very well. I think encouraging certain types of combos could be something fun to play around with.
I initially missed that combos were a thing, but figured it out eventually. Got a best of 8076.
Grats on the first jam btw!
OMG it's even higher than my own high score I'm so impressed! Thx for giving it a try!
I liked the theming, and I love a good matching game. Nice work!
thank you!
I (as a physics guy) love the idea for your game! One thing I would change is to allow the player to make mistakes. Right now, you cannot really lose, just win less. It would be nice to be able to combine two elements even if their electron counts do not match up and have some randomized destructive reaction happen. I understand that graphics were not you key concern here, but for your next game, I would recommend you to at least create a higher contrast between the letters and the background colour of the ion for accessibility reasons. People with vision restrictions will have a hard time playing your otherwise very educational game. Overall, you managed to explain a rather complex topic very simply, great educational value!
wow thanks for the feedback. i had so many ideas for additional mechanics/game modes but your suggestion was something new and unique. i actually would add that feature to the game. thank you!
Cool, original idea. I think the rules explanation is a little confusing and could be made clearer, but once you get going its pretty fun and addictive!
thank you for giving it a try and your feedback. and yes i have to work on instructions page.
Very addicting little game. I only wish it was more fleshed out so i could combine more than 2 atoms.
The music got a bit repetitive, but you can turn it off so thats all good.
But i really like the concept and the overall game!
thanks very much for trying it. it was my first attempt to make my game's soundtrack myself so i can relate with that part xD i'll try to make better soundtracks!
The idea of matching atoms together is definitely something I wasn’t expecting!
wow that is actually a nice attempt! thanks for trying it.
The idea of turning all the chemical elements into a matching game is incredibly unique and cool! The gameplay is fun and blends well with the visuals and music.
thank you for trying it, had to review some old high school books but ig totally worth it lol
I thought i'd managed to balance some chemicals based on the + and - amounts, but it still wouldn't ionise for me. To be fair, I flunked chemistry so it's definitely a skill issue on my end.
yeah it's because you have to cancel multipliers of anions and cations for example you can't match 2 Na+ and 2Cl- with each other. because in chemistry we don't have Na2Cl2, you have to cancel them 1:1 and make NaCL means matching only one Na+ and one Cl-... hope i could explain it properly lol but anyway huge thanks for trying it!
I mean for someone who does not like chemistry that much I liked it, very charming the game has life to it also you forgot to set the song to looping :D
thanks! pretty sure i've set it to looping but thanks for the heads up i'll check it again.
I have no idea the music stopped for me
