Thank you for taking a look! I wouldn't worry about them being hostile towards them as they are spirits and they wouldn't get hurt. And the coyote does state it wants to help right out of the gate, I assume most players would take the hint, hopefully!
Yeah that save is because of the lack of fire, since some resting activities require warmth. It is mentioned in the Journey section as an extra rule.
