Side scrolling beat-em-up executed well. If I was nitpicking, I would talk about a the currently lacking progression and the loose connection to theme. But as I said, that would be nitpicking - because it’s fun, straightforward and easy to pick up.
My thinking was that body = needs to go to the gym and mind = demotivation. Personally, I think the theme is spot on but perhaps it is not clear due to lacking functionality/missing features. Argh, I wanted to add so much more but ran out of time unfortunately. I wish I could have cloned myself, haha! Thanks for the feedback.
Amazing artwork! The battle against Leg Day is unfortunately a struggle I have to face too. 😄
A small tip banner or a short monologue probably would’ve made the controls and rules a little easier to understand. But overall, the game feels really good to play, and the visuals have a very unique style!
Really nice game! Liked the game loop and the art was awesome :)
Keep up the good work!
very cool loop! The punches especially feel VERY satisfying
really cool game. sometimes i think its not possible to continue if the enemies only spawn those long messages, but thats okay for a 48hour game jam :D
Nice little game. I got to the gym haha.
I died quite a few times before I figured out some strategy that I used to be able to finish the game. The biggest thing for me is that a lot of times the enemies bunch up in the same area as the red text, so there’s no way to get to them unless you take a hit. It’s not always possible because the red text damages half your hp and you can’t wait because your hp drains over time. Sometimes you have to be strategic and hit the red text early on and intentionally so you can use your hp as a resource, which feels kinda counter-intuitive for the design of the game. I think it would be better if the enemies also detect the red text and move away from it so you can safely navigate and hit them.
I enjoy the visual effects and the overall look of the game. The subpixel movement makes the player looks blurry when moving though (especially noticeable in the opening sequence). No music is kinda a shame but the sound effects are ok.
It would have been funny if all the store on the road were all restaurant like the ince cream shop though haha. Also might also be extra funny if the player kicks instead of punching for leg day XD
Great feedback which I will certainly incorporate. Let enemies move out of the “lane” that the text is travelling. Music is something I unfortunately ran out of time. I definitely want to still add music after the jam voting is over!
really cool game! It also seems really well balanced! I unfortunately couldn’t finish it because i dont have enough time rn, but it doesnt feel too hard nor too easy, every run i get a little farther! Really cool Though sometimes it skips leg day even though the cool down hasnt quite reached the bottum.
This happens because the text burns your motivation. I guess the problem here is feedback because it is not very clear that this is happening.
This is great! I love the idea and the humor :) the art is nice and I like the design of the logo a lot - green / pink is always one of my fav color combos ^^
also a refreshing take on the theme imho. Well done!
Great gameplay, feels like a solid Beat ’em up game. Honestly, it took me some time to understand that the words were not just overlays, but projectiles. :)
Thank you! Yeah, I ran out of time unfortunately. My plan was originally that when you first get hit by such a text that there is some better effect (also animation on the motivation bar) as well as a dialogue where the player says something along the lines of “A few more of these and I might just go home again…”
The Punch is very juicy!
Funny little game! I like the idea of using insults as a weapon, while motivation depends on it and eventually your body as well :D Nice catch on the theme :)
