I don't understand how wilderness odds works. I just went through 7 lives going through wildernesses without getting anything. In maybe 15 lives total in the wilderness, counting what I had previously, I got a single wilderness upgrade.

It said something about happening in the first few years in any given wilderness, so on some of those lives I only spent like 10 years in any one  and went in 10 different wildernesses, still getting nothing at all.

It is possible I'm astoundingly unlucky, as has actually been the case for me in multiple other games, including getting astronomically poor rolls at one point in fallen london (failed an 84% chance 24 times in a row, something like 1 in 12.4 quadrillions odds)

EDIT: Finally got one, odds for me seem like 1/10 lives rather than 1/4. Now I wonder if there is any way to keep track of em.

each wilderness tracks its own odds, so if say Fire has a 25% chance thats the odds you rolled the imprint (which is visible pretty fast if you get it), if it doesnt drop by 10 years either you can grind out the boss gear or some affinity and Battle XP there or else where. When you return to the same Fire Wilderness, it will now have a 1.5% greater chance additive per failed visit to get the imprint. Now Say you get Fire to 31% but decide you want to go to Wood.  Wood has its own tracked chance, so that will start at 25% for the first Wood imprint NOT the 31% chance Fire has. And each time you get an imprint the starting chances of each successive imprint in the same wilderness drops until it 5%.

Hope that helps

I also wondered if that 25% is accurate. I spent four lives going to multiple wilderness locations and only got one imprint. I think it was about ten locations over the first few lives - I kept visiting a new location and then circling back to all the previous ones, and it was only on the fifth new location that I got my first imprint. So a 75% chance for each of the previous lives' locations to fail is only a 3% chance overall. Unlucky, but not spectacularly so. Still, I'll be continuing to keep an eye on it in future lives.
