I keep seeing people joining jams, seeing them as contests, rather then as a fun experience made to improve your skills on game development, and its just really making me uninspired for this project, cause people are entitled and are just doing this to fuel their ego or to just try to win a quick cash, and i understand that the hosts are doing everything they can to prevent this

The big jams always have this caveat. The benefit is increased potential visibility and feedback for your stuff but it brings out literally everyone. 

And people have different goals

Not everyone is there to have fun, some people thing their next commercial project starts here

I think game jams are the most fun when done with passionate people who care more about the process than the results! Low pressure with a high level of creative drive always comes with best memories and experience.
