How is this related to Eternum? Judging from the name, setting and the artwork, you took a lot of inspiration from that game, but you didn’t mention it at all.

Your comment doesn’t make even the slightest bit of sense, so I’ll take it as a joke.

So you’ve chosen the denial route 😑. I hoped you would have given a honest reply like: “Yeah, I’m a huge fan of their game and wanted to create something similar”, but instead it’s just “I came up with everything by myself and it is purely coincidental that it looks 90% like the other game”. I still wish you luck with your project (really!), but even pirates have more honor.

Now that I see your comment wasn’t just a bad joke, I’ll give you a proper answer. I apologize if I sound a little harsh, but I was about to go to sleep after being awake for 20 hours, and your comment honestly put me in a bad mood.

I use the same software as Eternum for creating the visuals, HS2, just like hundreds of other developers. And yes, I’m a huge fan of Eternum, although I’m probably an even bigger fan of Caribdis himself. I have never denied that. I constantly praise the man as if I were in love with him.

What makes your comment frustrating is that you haven’t even played the game. In the credits, I literally included a long message explaining that Eternum and Caribdis were among the main reasons I finally decided to create my own game. Yet you commented as though I were trying to hide that influence or had stolen or copied someone else’s work, which simply isn’t true.

Now that I’m rereading what I wrote, I feel a little stupid. I should probably be grateful because, in a way, you’re suggesting that my game offers the same level of quality Caribdis delivers with every release, even though I personally don’t believe I’m anywhere near that level yet.

Still, you’re getting a little scolding for making such a strong accusation based on a completely random assumption!

I see, I have misjudged you. Have my apologies. Happy I was wrong.

What makes your comment frustrating is that you haven’t even played the game.

Yeah, wouldn’t have asked otherwise :) My first guess was it is from the same authors, but I saw a different account, so I was confused. That’s why I asked in the first place.

Looking forward to trying out your game later.
