Also I think occasionally the monster will be hiding in the spot you're checking, but won't be visible. The sound que still plays.

i'm looking into these bugs :)
On the giant rat I still managed to find shallow tracks next to a hole and deep tracks in the bush. I'm not sure how that works lol. I had found some other things, but the deep tracks were the fifth item.
