Once past the small learning curve the conversation took center stage, with a clear aim to discover more about the patient. But as more is discovered (and the person on the other end feels more human, more complex), the more the system feels restrictive and reductionist. The patient has credits, time is measured, problems are 'solved', and the winning condition sees the patient sent off the system, deemed ready to continue on their own even as conversation doesn’t reflect it. Great commentary on the restrictiveness of mental health systems, and the gamification adds an extra degree of cynicism. Great execution. Jam theme – ‘Let that sink in’ - is more subtle with this entry (or, the message is) and I think it wouldn’t resonate as well if it weren’t. A strong and memorable entry!

Very cool idea and the UI helps stick the landing. The variety in dialogue options is very fun and the character voices were reasonably distinct from each other

Now this is what a jam is all about, exploring a crazy gameplay mechanics. I really enjoyed Battleship Psychotherapy once I figured out what was going on.

A well-done character piece with a clever application of Battleships. I especially liked what the mechanics implied about the wider (grim) setting
