go full maximalist!! fill that baby with cozy nature vibes. if you feel like designing and drawing more UI elements, that is.

marketing-wise early next year might be the best time to release the game, since it's set in spring and chock full of those aforementioned cozy vibes. or you could release it on itch this year then on steam early next year- you'd probably get some repeat customers, folks who got it on itch, loved it, and want to replay it but earn achievements this time. but that's just my two cents, it's your game and you gotta do what you think is best.

Honestly that's pretty sound advice and I appreciate your thoughts on the matter! I wouldn't want the game to be delayed too much just because I'm figuring out how Steam works. I was also thinking a December or January release would be weaker marketing for such a Spring-themed game haha but releasing it on itch.io when it's completed seems to strike a happy balance so thanks for suggesting it!

glad i wasn't overstepping there ^^ i've seen games start out as itch exclusives then drop on steam months(or years) later, no reason it has to release on both storefronts at the same time. it'll give you time to make the steam release as painless as possible without feeling rushed.

plus us itch players might catch bugs or typos that slip by, and the itch release could fund the steam release(ik steam releases used to be petition-based, i think they're a flat $100 now? setting aside a chunk of itch profits instead of paying out of pocket would probably be nice). taking my business hat off now. the demo's great and i'm super excited for the full game! no rush, take all the time you need, i'm just happy there'll be more klafka in the future lol
