scrumptious art

I really like the idea and the implementation, it looks really good. Anyway I am not sure if it is a nitpick but one tree in the left looks slightly bent while all other seem straight. This isn't bad, but if it is only that tree it makes the effects in the image feel inconsistent. It feels either more trees should be effected or either it should be shown betters why it is just that part of the image.

I don't feel the cyclone part of the image was showcased great, it doesn't feel that dangerous from the art. Anyway that were my negatives, the art is great and the idea is really well, could work for a small indie game premise and would make a great cover art.

Tree?

My bad now that you pointed it out, I can tell it was meant to be mountains. I wrote my comment kinda late so it might also be me, but some of the mountains really do look like trees in the dark, atleast to me. I do still think the scale of the art is great,

I do think if it interacted more with the environment around it, it would've hit harder. Currently if feels like a cosmic event that while larger than life is way too far away to effect anyone, the environment around it feels controlled, while the scenery is beautiful it looks like a pretty sky, rather than a something that is dangerous for that world. Don't get me wrong the art is really great regardless.

Thank you so much though

Incredible blending of art in the middle!

This is insane, well done!! My only nitpick, you should have used one of the lighter purples for the text. I didn’t notice the message until I looked at it full screen. Unless that was intentional?

Otherwise, this is awesome! Using nothing but purple in the environment then putting the other colors in the crystal like that was absolutely genius!

Thanks for the feedback, I agree that a lighter text color would stand out better

Insane!

Really neat how you localized a lot of the color to the center of the piece and let the contrast do the talking.

Tysm!

Really beautiful piece! I really like the composition and the colors usage! You did an amazing job! And a big highlight for me is the rendering on the crystal it is superb!

The only thing I could suggest to improve this piece, would be to have utilized some AA ( Anti Aliasing ), I think it would have made the piece just a little better. That being said I can also understand why you may have not utilized it, as the pallet didn't always have a good color for it, depending on the values (though I for sure think that some could have been applied to the middle as they were quite a lot of "yellow-ish" hues!

Regardless, an amazing piece! I really like it!

Developer

Thank you! If you did notice, I used significantly more anti-aliasing on the crystal and the lightning rather than the cyclone. If the palette were a bit nicer with 2D color ramps, I might’ve had more as well haha

Yes I actually did notice! (I am sorry not phrasing my critique better)

And yes I do agree, the pallet wasn't the best for AA ( Anti Aliasing), especially in the purple darker tones where there weren't really a lot of in between colors. In the colors with higher values I feel like it was a little better in terms of ramps, but it was still quite inconsistent!

Regardless, great piece!  : )

What an absolutely beautiful piece with the color.

Absolutely excellent. Somehow managed to use like... the whole pallet without it being confusing. The only gripe is that the perspective on the crystal is weird, but that doesn't subtract from the piece at all. 5s across the board, and I expect this piece to win.

Developer

Thank you! Someone pointed out the perspective to me after I had already finished the piece lol and I’d already lost motivation to redo the perspective haha
