Love the aesthetic. Stylish game
This is a great game, one of the most addicting in the jam for sure. The visuals are great, really effective pixel art designs and aesthetics. It has the classic satisfying gameplay loop of something like Dragon Quest, grinding to become stronger to beat the next big enemy, and figuring out how to optimize the grind. Amazing job!
Around halfway through I realized that it is just more powerful and efficient to use the lowest fuel cost ability. Is there a real tradeoff/benefit to using the higher level skills? Since the enemies don't hit back, and you only die when you run out of fuel, it didn't really feel worth using those skills.

And yes, I completely agree with you about the combat system. The higher-level abilities are mostly useful for going faster, rather than offering a real strategic tradeoff. I definitely would have liked to rework that system and give each attack a more meaningful purpose, but I simply didn't have enough time to properly balance it 😅
Originally, I actually wanted the combat to work more like a little puzzle. Each enemy would have a weakness hinted at in their description: for example, an asthmatic enemy would be weak to Smoke, while an enemy wearing heavy armor would be weak to Extreme Heat. The idea was to figure out which attack worked best against each enemy. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to implement that properly either!

Wow really nice! my only complaint is more of a skill issue on my end but I got stuck on the attack screen because I didn't know what to do 😭 Great game!
