Good game!!!! I got stuck on the eyes wide shut level but i think I missed some important clarifying npcs (like that puck the fool mentioned) I enjoyed it a lot and I like chester!!

great game, only feedback i would give constructively is to give the different characters different fonts, some of the conversations between two and three people got a little confusing unless paying very close attention to the nametag

art is fantastic, good sound design and can tell a lot of effort has been put into this. great work

Developer

thank you and fully agreed! in all honesty we didnt think about fonts at all and then shoved in the font that the itch.io page used last minute haha

Love the pixel art style! I got stuck at the door level but I enjoyed it tremendously!

Really makes you think making it perfectly fit with the theme, though something that does take me out of it a bit is the  inconsistency of the art style between the overworld and the dialogue, but they both look good individually!

Gorgeous artwork, and love that you can scribble on the notebook! Really well done.

I love the characters and their designs, and the fact that there is a book to keep track of what characters tell you, the audio felt creepy and soothing. Great Work!

Developer(+1)

thank you mister bird sir <3

Absolutely amazing visuals. The audio adds a LOT to the atmosphere as well. I also just really like the names of the characters. Great job overall! My only minor complaint is that sometimes its difficult to find the spot you need to be in to go through pathways.

Developer(+1)

thank you!!

ye the collisions around the hedges could defs use some improvement

Very underrated, STRIKING visuals I loved every single bit of it! AND THANK YOU FOR THE BANNERSS

Developer(+2)

youre so sweet thank you for the kind words <3

good job yall! great job with the graphics (like, really. i adore your artists), but yall could have given the audio some more attention.

Developer(+2)

thank you for playing :)

i think the audio got plenty of attention, we didnt mention it in the description but the 2 songs in the game are specifically composed for this game, the ambience noises we recorded and edited ourselves aswell as the walking sounds, sound effects for prettymuch every feature in the game and a custom sound for every statue!

very proud of our sound people <3

I played this for so long its so good. When the game restarts from the beginning after you tell the dog to shut up, did I just pick the wrong one or does the story continue from there?

Developer(+2)

thank you so much for playing all the way!!

spoiler you basically finished the game. the other option would have just presented the credits screen :)

btw we had such a blast playing your game, absolute feverdream in the best way possible

incredible artstyle, narrative, since im a dum dum i was a bit confused about the mechanics

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

wasd to move, left click onto the statues or braziers to interact and light them :)

when in doubt, consult the notebooks summaries (press tab to open notebook) there is a recap about what youre supposed to to

Submitted(+2)

this game got a dedicated artstyle i love it

Your game has great visuals and an artistic, poetic atmosphere, but I didn't figure out how to light the torches.

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much ^^ Try clicking on the torches / braziers. Hope that helps /works.

Wow, the itch page looks crazy good. I really love the narrative work put into this game. However, every I fail or restart the maze, there should be an option to avoid having repeated dialogue that takes about a couple of seconds or even a minute to skip all of it.

The artwork is really amazing with this game, and that's including the light surrounding the player. It just terrifies me of making sure that every move I make is the right one. The arguments between Liar, Gaslight and The Moth (if that's who that was) were really well thought-out.

Also, love that soothing gameplay music. It's really hard to trust anyone in this game, well done applying the theme to a tee.

This game looks great so far. Although, it was very easy for me to get lost in the maze even if I tried to follow directions given by the creatures.

Developer(+3)

thank you so much!! escape key to skip the dialogue btw hehe

I like the art really well specially the portraits it was well done, the game is pretty well done, It feel like a finished product already. small recommendations is that implement an 8 direction movement, currently you can only go the 4 direction but cant go diagonal. I think you can enhance the gameplay a bit more. I think it fits the theme very well, naming scheme is pretty cool too. like the lamp is called gaslight it was witty.
