Really cool game and concept! The animations and notes move really smooth. Congrats on the game!
The game looks good and feels good to play. I think it’s probably best played with a numpad, though, and unfortunately I don’t have one.
This one hurt my brain to play, but I think it's a really great idea! I love guitar hero, and this felt like a fun spin on that, I could see this being a really fun rhythm game, as soon as my brain gets a handle on the controls! Very well done though, especially because you've managed to translate songs in a way that doesn't make my ears bleed, a real challenge given the audio limitations of the jam.
Interesting idea. Sadly I didn't recognize any of the songs, which made it hard for me to tell if I did it right or not.
Also I think it's a little confusing that you have to go up on the keyboard to play the notes that are on the bottom. Maybe it would have been more intuitive if it was the other way around.
At the bottom of each song’s menu, there’s a button called “CREDITS”. Selecting it will take you to the originals. You can also use “AUTOPLAY” or “TRAIN” to see how it’s supposed to sound when played correctly.
I ordered the notes by the pitch so lower pitches are at the bottom. When developing I tried a bunch of things and this was the most intuitive considering the constraints. It does get easier after some practice.
I loved your game! It was quite challenging at the start, but that’s exactly what made it so fun.
Thanks! If you liked it, you should consider getting a midi keyboard.
Nice entry. It was fun to play.
I think this game would have been a hit if it had been released on a 3310 - really cool concept
My only major complaint is where the numbers show on the display - I found it confusing that the low numbers (1-5) were at the bottom of the screen, and the high numbers were at the top - it'd be a bit more intuitive if where the numbers showed up indicated to the player where they should be pressing on the keypad. Like if 1 is near the top of the screen it's easier to think "high number!"
This game was a but hard to play without a numpad, but as a fit for the 3310 it's great, I could definitely imagine people in the 2000's playing this on the bus on the way to school/work
Thanks for the kind words. Glad you liked it. I followed the usual music convention for placing numbers (low pitch being lower and high pitch being higher). I found it difficult in the beginning too. It does get easier after some practice.
Well put together music rhythm program. I wish there was some scoring mechanic to see how well or badly I played. It took a few minutes to get adjusted to the controls but I welcomed the challenge. Nice presentation with the phone. Thanks for smoothing out the beeps and boops.
It had a scoring system initially, but I removed it. It felt off and doesn’t really make sense if you can clearly tell if you’ve played the music properly or not. It’s basically emulating a real piano.
A bit tricky for me to play without a numpad just because my brain can't connect the letters with numbers easily. I need to try it with a different keyboard. But I really like the concept!
You can play it on a normal keyboard! No numpad needed. Please see the documentation for controls mapping.
