I need help writing code for an interactive story I am writing on Twine. I can't get code working for turn-based combat scenes. I am willing to pay someone who can help!
Hi Eggsy! 👋 I saw that you're working with Harlowe 3.3.9 and need help implementing turn-based combat in your interactive story.
I’d be interested in taking this on. Rather than just adding a basic combat sequence, I can help structure the combat system around Harlowe’s variables, conditional logic, turn/state management, player and enemy actions, HP/damage calculations, win/lose conditions, and transitions back into the story.
I’m also comfortable working from an existing Twine project, so I can look at what you already have, identify what is causing the current system to fail, and build or clean up the necessary code without disrupting the rest of your story.
If you're still looking for someone, feel free to message me with your current setup or a sample of the combat scene. I’d be happy to take a look and discuss the scope and payment with you.
Hi! I saw you're stuck on turn-based combat logic for your Twine story — I'd be glad to help.
I don't have deep Harlowe-specific experience, but I have a solid programming background (GDScript and Python, shipped 3 games on Google Play under O2cool168) and turn-based combat is really just state management and conditional logic underneath, which transfers well regardless of the scripting language. I'm confident I could pick up Harlowe's syntax quickly and get your combat system working properly.
Could you share what you've built so far and where it's breaking — is it the turn order, damage calculation, win/loss conditions, or something else? That'll help me figure out how much work is involved and give you a fair rate estimate.
Happy to take a look either way!
