super late reply but hi, thanks so much!
i think i can speak for myself and my co-author here, that the self-discovery through tumblr and writing was such a formative experience that we really wanted to include it. i'm really happy to see that this seems to be something we collectively share and a lot of people can relate to it.
your web comment is spot on. those kinds of relationships trap you and choke you and make it seem like they're your whole world, while actively blocking the whole world from you. i'm glad this "trap" quality was noticeable. it's all so tangly.
as for the build - you're right! i'm going to include it. honestly my logic here was -- it will be easier for people to access it online, than to download. as i've learned now from the comments, turns out it's not the case!
and as for the sound -- there were plans to do a whole soundtrack. i wanted to record it myself, but didn't take into account that it was our very first game jam. as it turned out, writing, rewriting and editing took us like 90% of the time and we were nearly late to submit at all, and we had to abandon a lot of features we planned. sound was one of the unfortunate victims. we also made the UI first and then never touched it again, so i completely forgot the sound was even there...
as you can see, we had a lot of small hiccups on the way, but i'm glad we managed to finish it at all! feels great to be able to do it and be a part of the jam with all of you.
thank you for playing, and thank you for your notes -- they're all very helpful.
