Description
Story:

The sun has died, hundreds of millions of the population was wiped in the sun's death. Wiped in darkness and snow was the whole world in the aftermath. By miracle, many people survived and was injured. The remaining survivors were left in the darkness and the cold, trying to find a way in this freezing hell. What terrible things could you have done to make The Omniscient forget about you? Hell, the entire world at that. The survivors spent their remaining days repenting for their sins, singing to the heavens wishing someone would answer and God would return.

The soundtrack is mostly classical and ambient. The first track, Abandoned, is main menu music that tries to capture the feeling of being lost and well, abandoned. The second track is ambient music for when the player is dropped into the post-apocalyptic world. The third is for when the player finds a makeshift shrine in the middle of nowhere. The fourth is a choir from said shrine. And lastly, the fifth one is the realization after singing that their efforts are in vain. The soundtrack has a runtime of about 15:42

I used FL Studio's free trial for all of the songs, so I only had about 8-12 hours to work on each track, which wasn't a lot of time, but still I managed to make 5 songs in that time. Granted, they are all not that complicated and mostly quiet or lonely to fit the feel of the game, but still a lot of fun working on them!

It is truly quiet, tranquil, and silent. And above all, melancholic; all good ways to portray the decline of a world on the brink of the end. Really cool.

  • "Abandoned" is really nice and eerie, I liked those crunchy strings, they sound like opening rusty gates.
  • I can understand why everyone is praising "Shrine in Solitude"; it's nice: mysterious, dark, and eerie.
  • "Only the Wind Answered" is so sad; I really like the handling of the dynamics—some piano chords are intense, like the blows of someone in denial, while others are so calm and hopeless, accepting the end.

thank you so much! i really appreciate the comments about those 3 songs. i personally didnt understand why shrine in solitude got so much more attention than the other songs, but it's nice nonetheless. thanks again for your feedback!

One does certainly feel the anguish in your story, especially with the last song, “Only The Wind Answered”. You have done a good job exploring several dark textures without loosing the desolation feeling, which is not easy to achieve. Thank you for sharing :)

IDK why but the fact that you did this in FL studio free trial made me smile because I remember making my first song in FL free trial and it was a blast.

My first critique if you can really call it that is that the artwork is super dark, I can barely read the text.

The tracks were all very atmospheric and well made, but not really my style personally as I prefer fast and fun energy. Still a really good entry though!

thanks for the feedback! i enjoyed usinf FL studio free trial too even if i only had a few hours to make the songs. the artwork is supposed to be like that, but in hindsight, maybe it wasn't a great idea. i tend to get pretty impatient and i didn't think about it that much, it's something i need to work on. thanks again, i appreciate it :]

Damn the scenario is very depressing but you convey the themes very well with your music.
