Description
Teegarden was originally a shelved 2019 project intended to be a video game; the main theme has existed since then as a sketch featuring oboe, piano, and tambourine. I decided to give it a second chance for this jam by adding new sounds and developing the melodies into new songs.

"Teegarden" is the game's main theme; it introduces three melodies that recur throughout the soundtrack, as well as some of the recurring instruments.

"Holographic Design" is the theme for scenes set in space and aboard the protagonists' ship; it is the only track composed entirely of electronic sounds, distinguishing it from the audio landscape found on the planet itself.

"Downhill Shore" plays after the protagonists land in the waters off a beach; the track accompanies their exploration of the shoreline and the path leading toward the planet's interior, where they discover the first set of ruins.

"Sandy Shore" is the theme for the desert—the site of the first major monument encountered on their journey—and reflects the new dangers inherent in exploring an unknown world.

"Underground Temple" plays after the explorers survive the desert and locate another significant site; feeling less afraid this time, they venture underground to uncover the secrets of the land's former inhabitants.

hi, keep whimsy :3

Theme

Songs of a Forgotten World

How does it fit the theme?
The general idea involved exploring an alien planet, but after reading the theme, the concept shifted to exploring the remnants of a civilization on that planet; consequently, I blended electronic sounds—representing the explorers—with ethnic instruments to evoke the planet's nature and culture.

I'm glad you got to revive this old project of yours. The soundtrack overall has some really nice ideas and melodies; I definitely got some Stardew vibes as well. As others here have mentioned, I can totally see these tracks playing within an actual game. Congrats on this piece of work and I hope to hear more of your music in the future!

Overall a really sweet soundtrack. I especially loved all the percussion parts, really catchy and fun. Or in the case of "Holographic Design" the electric drums give off some threatening vibes. I'm glad you finally got to make that project happen:)

I enjoyed these tracks, nice entry! It would have been cool to see a bit of transition between tracks instead of the tracks just ending and the next beginning. Though, I do see you used Musescore 3 which is impressive in its own right. Overall not bad 👌

Great variation! I enjoyed the different tones you set and felt a strong sense of coherency throughout. Felt that your orchestration is really well thought out. I think everything could definitely benefit from better samples, but at the same time your current sound fonts do have a great amount of charm. Good stuff!

Very solid. The mixture of different modes in Sandy Road sounds really interesting!

This sounds right out of an indie game OST, so you should be proud of that! The music feels incomplete because it doesn't have the visuals of the game to go with it. Great job!

All the music sounds simple, yet still quite stylish. Its like a normal simple sandbox about adventures. I love it for idea and for intersting sound

Teegarden: chord choices take us through a variety of moods. Nice intro.

Holographic Garden: love the sound choices.

Downhill Shore: I feel so happy listening to this lol. Like the percussion.

Sandy Road: Progression is cool!

Underground Temple: this bass and percussion is very cool, starting to feel some urgency. Percussion is especially nice in the later half.

This is a very cohesive OST. Nice work!

This soundtrack, while not having any immediate bangers, would be perfectly serviceable as a soundtrack for an actual game, and I think that it's admirable for that reason, since some submissions tend to get lost in the sauce when it comes to that (mine included!). Tim Follin, one of the greatest game composers, said that ultimately game soundtracks should be secondary to the action that's happening on screen, and I think this exemplifies this well.

Don't let this fool you into thinking I didn't like the tracks: I thought they were all pretty great! The only thing I didn't like that much was the first one, but it was all uphill from there. The tracks are all decently complex and fit well with the descriptions, my favourite moment was during Downhill Shore when the chord progression suddenly started descending half note by half note, gave it a very nostalgic feeling.

I do think the soundtrack would benefit from some higher quality vsts and instruments, but it's fine as it is. Reminds me a lot of The Secret of Monkey Island, actually, in that regard. The use of leitmotifs was subtle but well implemented as well.

If I had to pick a favourite, it would probably be Underground Temple. It's very intense in a mellow sort of way, I like that.

Amazing stuff!

Lovely, great composition and retro feeling ! There is some Stardew Valley vibe with the mix of retro and modern sounds. If I had a suggestion, maybe try to evoke more of the alien world ? The whole thing felt really grounded. Otherwise really cool !

It's well composed, and have a nice retro feeling

Sounds great, "Sandy Shore" is my favorite, but all of them sound unique and the idea of using all leitmotifs from the main theme in different locations is kinda impressive

holy crap that's some good composition

I absolutely love how the melodies of Teegarden main theme transitioned between each other while being completely different. Holographic Design is lowkey an ear candy because of those plucks and satisfying drums, though it's a bit repetitive, but I suppose it's supposed to be this way. Downhill Shore sounds adventurous, while keeping a relaxed atmosphere with the percussion and the... Banjo I think? Sandy Shore keeps the same adventurous atmosphere, while being more intense and having phrygian mode in it for a bit more tension. And holy crap do I love this part with triplets. Also it sounds a bit cowboyish because of occasional "horse rhythm", bells and vibraslaps with banjo. Underground Temple sounds a bit heroic, I like how it reflects the heroes' boost in courage, and strings add majesty to the sound.

Overall a very satisfying OST, can definitely see it playing in an actual game :3

My Mac didn't know what to do with the downloaded file (not your fault), so I watched the YouTube link. My favorite track was the fusion feel of "Holographic Design". I appreciate your description, as I was unsure at first how this fit the theme.  Great tracks.
