Description
A medieval fantasy/adventure videogame OST. Each track has its place in the story and represents the emotion and feel of the characters or setting, all tied together with the Intro's letimotif. The songs were all composed in Ableton Live using mostly Orchestral Tools sample libraries.

1. Intro/Lore - The beginning cutscene for an epic tale. Prepare to embark on a fantastic journey and dive into the story of a world long forgotten.

2. Market - A bustling marketplace where children play, people sell, and musicians perform. I wanted to create a lively and catchy sound that would make a medieval person dance.

3. Fairy/Goddess - You've entered an ethereal realm and encountered the story's enchanted deity. She offers you wisdom and guidance, bestowing a magical power that only you can wield.

4. Hero/Princess - The love between the hero and the princess captured in sound. The Princess' beauty is radiant and there is no length our hero won't go to save his beloved. This romantic scene captures the moment she is rescued and the two lovers are reunited.

Nice job !! I really liked all the orchestral textures you used. I think you managed to create a lot of nice motion throughout each piece! (I've always found it so hard to compose orchestral stuff in Ableton, so I'm always impressed when someone can make it work haha). I did find Fairy/Goddess to be a maybe bit too derivative of Zelda's Great Fairy Fountain theme, but I still really like the progression you create for that piece. It's very pretty!! Overall nice work!

Thank you for the feedback! Yes I used Ableton because I was short on time and am still barely learning Cubase lol but I will probably stick with Ableton since it's my primary DAW. I do agree though with the Fairy song being a little too similar to it's inspiration but i'm happy to hear you were still able to enjoy it!

Great work. I would recommend to add a bit of reverb and panning to the instrumentation, and also play on the dynamics so everything can be have its own on space.

Developer

Thank you for this! I'll try experimenting with reverb more. These are actually some of the first pieces I've written for orchestral instruments, so I definitely appreciate any and all advice on how to use them.

I love what you were able to produce! These songs paint a clear picture of the fantasy world we're in and they remain sonically cohesive. Fairy/Goddess is a stand-out track with clear inspiration. There's not necessarily anything wrong with that inspiration, but I do personally feel like you could do a bit to make yours more unique whether it's changing up the figure or exploring more harmonic possibilities with that figure! Also, although I like the overall arc and sound of the final track, I would've liked to hear more variation in instrumentation. It feels like all of the instruments are playing the same parts for quite a while. The motif is growing dynamically, but having it grow in instrumentation and complexity would do a lot for the climax. Other than that you've got some really nice work here. 🐦‍⬛

I really appreciate the feedback. I'm brand new to orchestration so advice like this will actually go a really long way. I did want to experiment more with that song in particular but I was pressed for time so I just had to get it done one way or another lol. Do you have any pieces you could recommend that I study for varying instrumentation and further developing the motif like you said?

Great work, each track is really well composed and polished, definitely sounds like a classic fantasy tale and fits the picture nicely. I think my favourite track is Fairy/Goddess, it sounds quite Zelda-esque which is always good. The choir part sounds fantastic and I love the tremolo string sounds!

Thank you so much! Yes it was maybe a bit too obvious on the inspiration but I am happy with how it came out. Btw I am still streaming your submission it's so good!
