Hey! I just so happen to have an Android as that's the phone type I've been using my whole life; that doesn't automatically mean that I'm a minor, I just prefer sitting in my bed playing than sitting at my PC. I feel as if thats a very harmful generalization and if you want to limit access to kids the best option would be for your game to cost money.

Is the main assumption here that people who play on their phones are more likely to be children? If so then how does that argument stand when you allow apple users to download? Not sure

Hello, please don't get me wrong. I never said "all Android users are kids." I simply mentioned that most of the people reaching out to me for an Android version happen to be minors. I should have clarified that this is just what I've been seeing in my Tumblr inbox, so that's on me.

Additionally, as I've mentioned on my blog before, I want Divine Possession to be a free game for everyone to enjoy. Charging for it would prevent at least half of the player base from trying it due to financial limitations. The most we will ever do is potentially launch a donation campaign. This is a project meant for enjoyment, not profit-a chance for you to take a break from daily life and experience the story.

Lastly, to clear up any confusion: I never said all Android users are kids, nor that an iOS version is for Ipad/Iphone. Many younger players don't own PCs, laptops, or MacBooks, which is why mobile requests come up so often. While a native iOS version isn't available on iPhone or iPad, if you are on Android and want to play, there are several emulators you can set up in just a few minutes.

I hope this helps clarify my point of view. I never intended to shame anyone for using Android!

i think youre kind of jumping the gun a little here and reading meaning into what zainab said that isnt there, aka reading too deeply into it. happens to all of us from time to time, but just thought id let you know its not fair to put your assumption abt the creator's intentions out in such a vaguely aggressive manner

Is that not what they also did, automatically assuming that a person is a child based on the type of phone they are using? That is a strange thing to say. I understand that for many game creators, it can be much harder to develop for Android, and they could have just said that. However, saying that they are not going to do it because people who use Androids are most likely children is offensive; at the end of the day, it is just another type of cell phone 🤷‍♀️

youre doing that thing again where ur reading too much into it.

what zainab said wasnt "people who use androids are most likely children". what she said was most of the people who ASK *HER* for an android version are minors whom she wants to limits access to the game for. this is a comment section for divine possession. any reply of hers in it are safe to be assumed regarding the community of the people that have played HER GAME regarding HER GAME - not android versions of games on itch as a whole.

I feel like you are attempting to be very antagonizing by the way you are replying to me. I am stating it as the creator said; I do not know this person. I have never interacted with her, and I have never heard of this game outside of scrolling on itch.io; I do not assume it is very popular. I am replying to exactly what she said. That is a harmful generalization and cannot stand when you are allowing Apple to have downloads. If she really, truly wanted to limit minors playing the game, she would make it cost some amount of money, even a dollar. That is proven to be the number one thing that keeps minors from playing. Still, like I said, I understand that it is much harder to put the game on Android than it is on anything else; if the problem really was minors playing the game, she knows the solution.

(The person probably was just asking because they wanted to play the game, but they couldn't. But pointing out another odd logic is they said that you want it to be financially available to everybody, but have failed to realize that a person only having one phone or one device is also included in that)

I don't mean to make this an issue. I'm just pointing out the weird logic. I wish to have no issues with you, i'm merely just replying because you are 🤷‍♀️

im sorry if i came across in a way that makes it seem im being antagonistic. im not trying to be, but i will admit i grow a little frustrated with you.

the thing is, zainab cannot make the game cost anything right now because the country she lives in does not allow for patreon OR paypal. they are banned in her country. im sure if that wasnt the case, she would make it cost a little to limit the reach minors have for it.

she cannot make everyone happy, and i believe if this is what she genuinely believes helps her feel more comfortable about limiting access to the game to minors, we should respect that. she made a game thats good and filled with love and effort, and put it out there for free. the game will still be there in the future. if people cannot play it right now, they can do it in the future. yes, that means they wont get to do it now, but thats in my opinion not something that zainab should feel guilty about or responsible for.

Again, not to make her feel guilty or anything, I appreciate her putting work into the VN community. The overall logic does not make sense for that, but I understand her motive enough, though it does not do anything to fix the issue at hand. I am again only replying to her statement saying that most people who use Androids are minions, which is just a dumb conclusion.
