Description
This story takes place in the "Golden Desert," a place where a flower known as the "wind flower" or "golden flower" grows. This flower thrives in a freshwater oasis in a specific area of the Golden Desert called "the Golden Oasis." The flower is composed of pearly yellow petals, which, as they wither, turn golden and dissolve into sand. With the help of the constant wind, this dust covers the desert like a golden blanket. The wind flower also possesses abundant stamens that contain toxic pollen wich creates mirages in anyone who inhales it. The flower alters the conditions of the desert to such an extent that, for the sparse population that lives here, their lives revolve around this flower and its effects.

Very cool concept and music. Reminds me a little of Dune with the "magical mind altering dust in the desert" but the vibe feels quite different to me.

I also love the music you developed for it. You really brought a lot of elements together really well, and you clearly put in a lot of time on this as well.

The art style is very cool, and definitely vibes well and creates a unique atmosphere.

Great work. Absolutely a blast going through your submission.

Thank you so much. I appreciate it.

I also wanted to add a thank you for creating this season. I really enjoyed being part of it, and I hope there’s a second one so I can put into practice everything I learned from this one.

And I’m really happy you enjoyed my submission too. It means a lot.

Thanks again!

I had a very immersive experience with your entry, and I felt really like a "golden traveler" when I finished reading and listening to your work. I will comment here some of my impressions when listening to your tracks, and my opinion of the overall work:

Flower Dust (Titles)

- Massive synth swells and rich deep hits great at setting the omnipresent desert tone.

Mirage

- You fully achieved a hallucinogenic track here. Loving the textured soundscape with that shimmering twinkling of the synths and the distorted bells. I think it was the first time I heard of this effect applied to the bells, and it works great. Reading that they are also an integral part of the signaling of your imagined game gives them an added layer of meaning in the song.

Flower Dust (Main Theme)

- The sound design work with the flute against the ominous background is awesome. Feeling really immersed in the sand. The techno-organic nature of the percussion, with those reverby traces of some machine hits is also excellent at the ending.

The song of the wind

- I like how the wind is not only a part of the background, but a voice with its own leading presence in this track. The morphing into a kind or heartbeat, to then become a murmur and finally again pure energy is great and gives a sense of evolution but at the same time predefined fate: in the end we are all just dust in the wind.

I think the game concept could work great in its simplicity, and you achieved beautiful vibes of a nomadic desert way of living, also with the hallucinogenic and toxic qualities of that deep yellow dust. It's impossible not to think of Dune's spice, but that doesn't take away from the great impression and uniqueness of your world, with drawings full of personality and flow. Overall, I found the design had a great personality, and I don't know why but I could picture this as a board game (no, I know why: because when I was a kid I played Targui a lot and this brought back many memories).

Great entry with an amazing atmosphere achieved with the artworks and the carefully crafted soundtrack. Good job!

Thank you so much for your comment and for taking the time to write such a detailed review. Honestly, it’s really nice to know that others have been able to immerse themselves in this world.

For the hallucinogenic effect in “Mirage,” I used a sample rich in textures and a very slow pitch drop, but I also added an extremely heavy feedback on the delay. There’s actually a screenshot of the effects chain I used, in case you’re interested.

What you described about “The Song of the Wind” made me really happy to know that you were able to pick up on the original message, and that it came across as the “voice of the wind.” Although I think you described it in a much more beautiful way. I actually just remembered that track was going to be called “To Eternity.”

As about the imaginary game, thanks, I wanted to keep the same balance and cohesion between each part of the entry. Since I decided to approach the project starting from the drawing, with the golden dust as the focus, I decided to keep the game centered around the landscape and the experience of being immersed in that desert. And I loved that you imagined it could work as a board game. I can really imagine it that way too, and honestly, it made me want to actually make it.

Thank you again for your thoughtful and warm review.

The vibe is immaculate, the constant bell texture for the wind bells throughout was especially really nice and the setting and art really go well together with the music.

Cant really say more, good work!

I love the ambience! I'm actually looking forward to what you make for the next jam (since that is the Ambience jam!!) .
The tracks themselves are soft and tender—which matches your art style.

Beautiful artwork and equally beautiful sounds. I definitely wished there was a lot more to listen to! The music matched the theme very well.
