[Paid] [Pixel Art] Animated character - Looking for long-term collaboration.

I run a hobby ratings and review platform, called Raters Gonna Rate. For each feature review I make, I include an animated pixel character from the content I reviewd, acting as a delightful brand piece.

I have been working with a great pixel artist for years, but I need a slightly faster pace of delivery. I also have a very particular style I want to achieve, and although their artwork is beautiful, it's maybe only 85% of the way there. I am looking for 100% style match of my orginal reference image...

Reference artwork
My very first pixel character, which is my site logo, is absolutely perfect. It is inspired by the game Sea of Stars, in terms of proportions, color and overall style. The animation is simple, but has a cool action essence to it.

Comparison

Here you can see some characters I have already had made for my site. Column A is exactly what I want.  B close, but maybe just off proportionally or with the coloring. C, although high quality pixel art, feels a different style than A - proportions are more realistic, not feeling as steep isometrically.  My goal is to have all characters feel like they are part of the same 'game' and 100% consistent with column A. This is my ultimate goal!

Details
- Single pose (no sprite sheet needed)
- 7/8 frames of animation, always an idle pose.
- Isometric style
- Delivered as gif
- I usually ask for a character 7-14 days before I need it. Sometimes even longer. So I do not rush people.
- Long term partnership - I'll need around 12-20 characters a year for the foreseeable future.

Hello there, I saw your post looking for a pixel artist to match your exact Sea of Stars isometric style for your review platform and I would love to help bring 100% consistency to your character roster. I specialize in detailed pixel art matching specific game palettes, proportions and smooth idle animations delivered as GIFs. Could you let me know if you would like me to test out a quick character based on Column A to demonstrate the style match?

Hi!

I saw your post and I'd be very interested in working with you on the project.

I'm a French pixel artist, game designer and producer at Storybird Studio / PixelHeart, with over 15 years of experience in game development.

I work on a wide range of 2D and pixel-art assets: characters, NPCs, creatures, animation, environments, tilesets, props, items, FX and UI. I'm also used to adapting to an existing art direction and producing consistent assets for full game production.

Here are a couple of examples of my work:

• Beyond the Ice Palace 2 – Storybird Studio

• Gold'n'Blood – Pixel Art Action Game

I'm based in France and available for remote freelance work.

I'd be happy to take a look at your current build, references and asset list and discuss how I could help on the project.

Best, Julien

Hi! I’m Samuel, a game-focused artist interested in working on long-term projects like this.

I really like the consistency you’re aiming for with the characters, especially the isometric proportions, color treatment, and simple but expressive animation of your original reference. I understand that the goal isn’t simply to create good pixel art, but to make every new character feel like it belongs to the same game and matches that reference closely.

I’d be interested in working within those specific constraints: isometric style, consistent proportions, 7–8 frame idle animation, and GIF delivery. I’m also comfortable working from a strong visual reference and making adjustments until the style is consistent.

I’m interested in the long-term nature of the work as well, and the 12–20 characters per year sounds like a good sustainable workflow.

portfolio is currently not available

I’d be happy to create a small test/sample based on your reference if you’d like to see how closely I can match the style.
