btw you used 4 colors D: (slider appears when text where you can see papers is too long)
I'm too lazy read all text, but overall I liked your game, it's very good :D
Also, I’d like the camera movement to be faster, anyway it’s perfect
I absolutely love this game! I really liked how clear the initial instructions were, but then you realize you can completely ignore them and make your own choices. I think it perfectly captures the theme of this jam. And the cat is adorable ❤️
Bravo! I love the papers please vibes. The cat is the icing on the cake. Great use of dither!
Also, the rubber duck is a good nod; quack quack quack quack quack quack quack quack
You got me interested when you said “cat” :)
The idea is great, the visuals are pretty cool, and the overall theme is funny a nice reality check. I liked the little things like arranging my desk and all the notes and decorations in the documents and backgrounds. I agree with the other commenter below that maybe there is a little but too much of reading. I have to admit that in my game I removed a lot of the reading and I think it could had benefited from additional details that are now hidden. Finding a balance there is difficult. I still enjoyed it.
A couple comments.
- The UI elements are not behind the dithering shader so you violate the 3 color rule in some places (the flashing envelope icon, the logo in the computer screen, the fade in the menu screen, and I suspect the text as well).
- Removing aliasing from the text makes it barely legible and if you increase the font too much then you can’t put as much, maybe you could have tried with a pixelated low-res font?
- The dithering effect doesn’t work great if you play fullscreen as the texure scales with the viewport. I had the exact same issue in my game, take a look if you want. If that is not a stylistic choice, HMU and I can share my shader with you. I see you are also using Godot. It’s a 3 line change.
Thank you so much for the detailed feedback and for taking the time to play our game! ❤️
Regarding the dithering and the 3-color rule, we deliberately moved some of the text outside the shader because otherwise it became difficult to read. However, in all those cases we made sure to use the exact same color code, so we didn't actually break the 3-color rule.
The only exception is probably the damn scrollbar in the articles, which completely slipped under our radar during all the testing sessions we did. D:
Art looks really great. Gives super papers please vibes. Unfortunately there is an overwhelming amount of text that it hits the player over the head with. It is good text but just so much.
And in the approval folder there is sometimes a scroll bar with wrong colors.
