Initial Thoughts

I downloaded this game a few minutes ago.  Having played a number of your games in the past, the concept and rules feel familiar.  I look forward to trying it in the next couple of days.  One thing concerns me and that is the print and play cards.  I won't be printing them even though the artwork is great.  It's just too much black on many of the cards.  I'll likely hand write the information onto blank cards to play the game.  Overall, I am excited from what I've seen and look forward to playing very soon.

I can provide a low ink version as well. With just the words (and all white), no card backs. I'll make those tonight to put up.

Edit: Done, a low ink option is now available.

Fantastic!  Thanks Gregg.  I’ll print those and play a few sessions over the weekend.

When I started playing, I was concerned that having all the Dungeon Abilities active would make the game too hard at the beginning. However, with the rate at which I accumulated experience, I was able to unlock Hunter Abilities relatively quickly.  I made it to the Decromancer six times before defeating it.  To me, you've just about hit the balance of challenge vs growth perfectly.  I found that progression felt a little too quick, so instead of having Mastery active from the start, I made it a 5 experience unlock ability.  That felt like an achievable first accomplishment and made the first round a little more challenging, but not overly so.  I am absolutely a fan of this game and look forward to future iterations.

Thanks for the feedback!

I am also working on a more non-roguelite version of the game with more custom components that may be even more fleshed out. In this Deck Souls game, you control two characters (one melee, one ranged) that start at unlit campfires, you have to light them (flip face up), defeat all enemies (the Deckromancer is already part of the 12) then return to a campfire or else you lose (no retreats here). Instead of 4 suits A-10, its 5 suits of 1-10 on easy, 1-9 on normal, 1-8 on hard. Etc.

You start with 3 abilities (randomly chosen).

In this one since no roguelite progression, you score only collected souls (perfect exact attack = defense). Each win (new game plus) adds 1 modifier token to a random enemy like +1 defense, range 1-5 only , range 5-10, must last to be defeated on that rank, etc.

So players can compare what new game plus number they have beaten
