This new Game is a complicated Life/Sim + Economy/Sim. But there are some Problems in v0.4 Alpha. e.g. The points for Rivalry get higher and higher (in an unlogical way) and cannot be reduced. Is this a
Program Error ? Help me !!
Thanks for reporting this. You haven’t misunderstood the system—v0.0.4 can stack Rivalry too quickly and does a poor job showing how to reduce it.
Apologize, Comfort and certain Boundaries or jealousy conversations can lower it, but the balance is off in this version. I’ve corrected this for v0.0.5 so repeated background events cannot keep piling it on, stable relationships gradually cool it down, and the relationship screen points you toward the correct repair action.
If you tell me which characters are affected, I can also check that exact pairing.
Which Characters are affected : Talia is a nice gym trainer and my favorite character. I am dating her, of course. (dating has no animation, no simple pic). Some events trigger Romance + Rivalry ? What ?? The same pattern can be observed with the sugar lady Candy + Melinda, the housemate and others. There is a problem in the balancing of events. If a lady was kissed, there is no crime. Influencing the partnership with Talia is a strange way. On the other hand : Is there any way to stop dating if the dating partner gets angry and aggressive ?
You’re right, there was a balancing bug in 0.0.4. Casual and Open dating could still treat kissing someone else like a relationship breach, which is why Romance and Rivalry sometimes increased together.
I’ve fixed that for the next build. Casual/Open relationships no longer get automatic betrayal or rivalry from permitted kissing, while breaking Exclusive or Serious terms still has consequences.
You can also end any relationship through Phone → Contacts → Actions → Dating → Break Up, even if the partner is angry. I’ve made that easier to find too.
The date presentation is still quite light in 0.0.4. The date games are being upgraded now, with character-specific date artwork being handled as a separate content pass.
Sorry, I found only Phone → Contacts → Actions → Commit → Break Up. This is the reason why I'm confused. I have a proposal for implementing a better rivalry method. There should be an invitation concept. Where : the local bar. Interaction : drinking / eating something. Conflict: Another person observed this interaction and becomes jealous or tells this to a person who becomes jealous. This event chain should increase rivalry. I think this is a realistic way to build or stop partnership.
You’re right — in 0.0.4 that section is labelled Commit, not Dating. I gave you the updated menu name by mistake, sorry.
I like the invitation idea too. Meeting someone at the bar, being spotted, and that information reaching their partner would make rivalry feel much more natural and understandable. I’ll look at building that into the social-event system.
