I played this for a while, reached 17 days and 7 levels around.

Things I like about this game

  • I like such pick up and drop off games in general
  • The taxi itself was smooth to operate and I could reliably get better at it as time went on.
  • Eventually I started getting flawless rides.
  • I like the mechanic of the fuel and repair. simple, easily understood and again, reliable. Easy to spot on the maps too.

What I would like to see

  • More content in general. More passengers, more interactions, more interesting things like the ghosts and their interactions
  • The houses were confusing sometimes when there were 2-3 of the same I did not like that. I would like more distinct houses.
  • More platforming and sceneries. I would like some exploration element in this game. That would really complete it.

Overall, solid job! The tutorial was clear and precise. And the onboarding experience was very smooth!

Looking forward to where you take this project!

If you have any specific questions feel free to ask!

Thanks A LOT for this nice, detailed feedback!!  I am happy that you got the flawless rides after some time - that was what I hoped.

Did you happen to find the hidden moon stones and visit the moon in the sky?
And minor: Did you find some hidden caves, too?

More content should be done definitely.
1) "Problem" here: This was my first game ever and I used TileMaps to create the levels. It took me hours and days to create one level. I wish I could either generate them automatically or let users create levels or something clever. In my 2nd game (Billiard Ocean) I totally went away from manual level creation and generated them all using an RNG-based algorithm.
2) I feel that the 2D is actually more in the way than helping. So I currently think: What about having this game be like a "Version 1" and then create a 2nd version in full 3D... Then I could more easily use cool lighting and stuff to make things even cooler. What do you think about 3D vs 2D her?

I did not find the hidden caves.

I saw on discord that they were on the cave ceilings. In my playthrough I was very careful about not hitting any walls because the passengers started complaining. So that led me to not find any secrets I think.

I think a game like this would demand manual level design. Because that’s the most fun part for the player. Exploration!

Procedural generation might not be as fun in my opinion.

I understand the time it takes but then that’s almost anything game dev. 😅

I think if you go 3D many things about the game will change and you might need a lot more? Like minimaps and stuff. ( Or do you want to make it 2.5D? Then the transition would be easier. )

You might also need to create more interesting 3D backgrounds to keep the players hooked. 🤔
