Great game! The music was very interesting. Honestly, at first, the music totally annoyed me lol! Then as I went along collecting the gold, watching the timer, the music set a stage or mood of anticipation and anxiety which fit perfectly for the game since you know the mine is going to collapse. Overall, I enjoyed my experience and would play again with more levels and stuff added to the game.

Thank you! I was pretty happy with the inclusion of the mine collapse element to add some stakes to an otherwise basic game. I definitely have some other ideas of what to add, and it would be interesting to include other levels/mines since, at least within the context of the story, it wouldn’t make sense to go back into the collapsed mine lol.

Chill mining loop.. The rock textures are very cozy. Much old gold indeed. Great job!

Developer

Thank you! With more time I would return to the rock sprites and make the bottoms look more natural, it didn’t seem right that every rock had a perfectly flat edge.

It turned out nicely and is fun, it would have been better if the fonts matched the theme, though. Great job.

Developer

Thank you! Initially for the main screen font I started out hand drawing it in a style that would have been more fitting to the vibe, but to save time I went with using the “Playbill” font which I think was fitting but at the size font needed for the text to be more legible, you do start to lose the aspects of the font that give it the theme I was going for. Improved fonts/text would be a good update.

that was actually really fun xD + im biased for games with a mining mechanic ehm, the music was actually really fitting to the vibe and artstyle imo so good job on that! (won't reiterate the loudness thing since youve already responded to that and i just lowered my volume and life was good lol)

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it, and thank you for sharing your score. The highest score that’s been shared with me so far is 133. Good feedback still regarding the volume, it will help remind me to verify those audio settings with as much attention as some of the visual work done.

gotta beat that now >:)

I like it!! I may have had a heart attack when it first loaded as the music was a bit loud, but I Iove the vibe, the textures are really cute

Thank you! I am now realizing that I never actually played it after submitting to see how the audio compares in browser versus in the dev software studio. Audio/music is definitely something I need to work on in general, as I typically don’t spend as much time on it as I do the visuals, and any time spent mixing/ensuring audio levels are manageable would go a long way.

It's a good game idea and you should really keep working on it in my opinion.
I like the graphics but the game lacks more gameplay elements. And the music feels repetitive.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! There are definitely some other game elements I would add if I worked more on this, such as mine cart movement, more ways to obtain gold (sifting in water, dynamite?), more animations for rocks breaking, etc. For the game jam I wanted to keep it simple in scope to ensure I could finish it in time.

The music was the last aspect that I worked on, so I could definitely see how enhancements could be made. I just looped 12 measures of a basic blues pattern that I played on a small electric keyboard so that I would have something playing in the background. I was going for the old timey player piano vibe but I don’t think that really came across, but it would be fun to fine tune that!
