How does your game meet GBJam's theme
Nowadays, it is easy for people to take hundreds of photos a day on their phones. But in the era of film cameras, printing a photograph required significant effort; consequently, the photos themselves became more precious, evoking a wealth of memories and emotions. For many people today, those old film photographs are true treasures.

Great final moment. Plays almost like a short film with QTE prompts. Great intentional use of color palette, and it's full of striking images. The ending is pretty abrupt; a game over screen or credits or title there would feel a little less jarring. Really respect the intention and vision here.

I like the idea of Old gold not referring to literal gold, but an old gem you find of yourself when youre young. Its a different take on the obvious prompt.

The graphics are really nice, and as someone who doesn't know about the original method of photo cameras, its fun to see the process through this. The only issue I had, was at the end, I took the photo directly above the door as the last one, and its red screened until i press z to continue it but i stayed on the screen for a while, that and there were times where I had to just test different tables cause I didnt know the terminology, but I loved this

Thanks for the feedback; we're glad you enjoyed the game! I’d like to add an indicator showing exactly which table to approach at different stages—I might add that in the future, but I just couldn't quite get it polished in time for this release.

As for that cutscene—yes, there is indeed a frame that lingers on a blank screen until you press Z. It serves as a sort of separator between the final shot of the cutscene and the "thank you for playing" message.

I really liked the vibe of this one.

Absolutely fantastic. I've shot with film cameras but never developed my own, so seeing the process first hand was pretty cool.  The art is very vivid and stylized, I loved the feel of the music. A really strong aesthetic and an enticing world I want to see more of. I like the Cooking Mama sort of gameplay, going through the steps on screen, but sometimes the control directions were a little unclear, and I maybe some kind of fail state could add depth to the game, like if you developed a photo wrong and it came out blurry or too dark you could try to improve your technique.

The suggestion to introduce a risk of failure is interesting. In an early concept for the game, we had planned for everything to be time-based, but we later abandoned that idea.

You’re right about the hints—I didn't have enough time to make them clearer.

Really great idea, also color pelette, art and sounds are nice

Nice game! I liked that I learned something about developing photos from film. The music fit the vibe of the game well.

The aliasing on the text made it hard to read in some places, I would prefer it to be pixel perfect which would make it more readable.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback; we're glad you enjoyed the game! The text smoothing is likely a characteristic of the font itself—since it's rendered at a size of 9 pixels, it has to undergo smoothing.

The art was awesome. This was a really satisfying gameplay loop.

Nice game, nice story! I'm 34, so film photos were a big part of my childhood. If I could add one thing to it would be a progress bar to indicate, well, the progress of the actions like pouring the developer/fixer and rinsing. Good job!

Thanks for the feedback! You're right—the hint system in our game is a bit unpolished; I didn't have time to fully refine it, so in some places it might not be clear whether to press or hold a key, or for how long.

In any case, we're glad you enjoyed it!
