Really neat idea for a game! The graphics are great and it was cool being able to make a strong dinosaur for my team. The menu for assembling the fossils was a bit confusing to me though, but other than that I had a good time.

I played this on stream today (recording here) in case you’re interested in watching a playthrough of your game.

Oh wow! What a gem! Mechanics are a bit confusing at first but right from the start the intro cutscene looks incredible, then I get to play a little pokemon battle minigame and then when I strike the earth with my shovel I find out there is ANOTHER minigame, and then I get to make new guys from the bones I dug up? This is some top-notch stuff! Congratulations to everyone in the team! Truly awesome work!

Loved the concept and the visuals!

I figured out the gist of it pretty fast since I've played the fossil digging minigame in DPP, not complaining, that shit rocks. The creating dinos part was a bit harder for me to figure out but it clicked soon enough, though the UI for that part is a bit rough (especially not being able to see the full names of the parts I'd collected).

The combat felt like it could use quite a bit of fleshing out, I'm sure you had tons of ideas that didn't make the cut due to jam time constraints, but still worth mentioning in case you wanna keep working on the game.

My main criticism would be that the intended scope is just too big for what the game ends up being. Such are the trappings of game jams, but in this case it feels like you had a hard time closing out a cohesive experience to the point where it can be unengaging if you're not motivated (like I was) to play more DPP fossil minigames. Even some short text slides after the intro cutscene could've helped a lot to contextualize the adventure and give more motivation to the player to figure shit out.

Graphics are definitely the winner for me though, it's a truly beautiful game and it manages to be so without compromising what makes it feel like a gameboy game. You've been told this a billion times but the intro cutscene fucking is one of the best I've seen across all GBJAMs.

Congratulations on an interesting and beautiful game!

Wow, the intro gives me cinematic vibes :D Great work!

With some polish and some tutorials, this game could be amazing! As-is, I really love the concept, enemy designs and the music.

The game looks and sounds really good, perfectly fits the game boy theme and I really like the intro! The monster building mechanic is interesting and I think it has a lot of potential, but it's very unintuitive and unclear in its current state. I can't really see or tell what the parts are with the text being so big. The excavating is fun but it's a little slow. I think just removing the wait time before you can do your next action will make it feel much better.

Really good work on the graphics and the music is pretty good too. The gameplay is a little slow though, just the character movement speed and digging speed could do with being a bit faster. That and it's not clear what the objective is. Still mechanically works good, just needs a little polish!
