Game Designer looking for a team

Hi! I’m a junior game designer with experience in game design, level design, UI/UX design and implementation, as well as sound integration for games. I enjoy creating engaging player experiences by combining gameplay systems, intuitive interfaces, and immersive audiovisual elements.

I would love to find a team for this game jam!

Hey 👋

I honestly think your skill combination stands out a lot compared to many other posts here 👀

The fact that you work with:

  • game design
  • level design
  • UI/UX
  • implementation
  • and sound integration

makes you seem like a really versatile indie developer, which is honestly very valuable for smaller focused teams 🚀

Right now I’m building a small indie game team for upcoming projects/game jams, and I think someone with your workflow/experience could potentially fit really well depending on the final direction of the project.

At the moment the team is still small and organized carefully because I’m trying to build a focused collaborative group instead of a huge random team 👀

Would definitely be interested in discussing possible collaboration further if you’d be open to it 🚀

Hi! Thank you for the reply!

Yeah I'd love to know more about the team and what are your big plans!

Hi Hilary 👋

Thanks for your interest!

Before I tell you more about the team and our plans, I wanted to ask a quick question:

Do you have any experience creating VFX for games? For example, particle effects, magic effects, weapon effects, explosions, or other visual effects.

Looking forward to hearing from you! 🚀

Unfortunatelty no, but I know very well a really good vfx artist if ever.

Thank you for letting me know.

At the moment, we are mainly looking for artists who can directly contribute to the project. However, if your VFX artist contact has experience with Unity game VFX (particles, magic effects, combat effects, etc.), feel free to introduce them.

Also, could you briefly tell me about your own specialization and the type of work you would be interested in contributing to?

Of course! My main specialization is level design, which is where my passion and strongest experience lie. Throughout my degree, I've also had the opportunity to work in several other areas of game development, including game design, UI implementation, gameplay mechanics programming for a horror game, sound design, and narrative design. Outside of school projects, I'm also currently writing my own novel.

In terms of contributing to a project, I would be most interested in level design, world-building, encounter design, and helping create engaging player experiences. I'm also comfortable collaborating on broader game design tasks and prototyping gameplay features when needed.

Hey Hilary 👋😊

Thank you for sharing your background.

Your experience with level design, world-building, narrative design, and gameplay systems sounds really interesting.

I’d love to learn a little more about your work.

Have you worked on any completed projects, game prototypes, maps, level designs, or personal projects that you’d be willing to share? I’d be interested in seeing some examples of your work and creative process. 🎮🚀

Hi!

My most recent project is on Steam and is called Spire of Chaos: Arcana Unleashed. It's a fully released game, and I worked on two of the five levels: the Observatory and the Solarium.

Most of my other projects are available on itch.io, where you can also find my portfolio. I'm currently working on a small horror project on the side, and I'd be happy to talk about it or even show you what I'm working on live.

Feel free to take a look at my portfolio if you'd like to see some of my previous work!

Hi Hilary..

I checked your works on itch.io and Steam. It seems you cover different genres - action, cozy , puzzle, platformer. I think that's cool!

I'm a Unity game developer of about 4 years experience including different jam awards  and team projects. I am building a team and we could use a level designer. With your experience across other areas of development,  I think you might be a good fit. I will be interested in getting to know more about your work and potential collaboration as a game studio, beyond the jam.

If you are interested, you can send me a friend request on Discord to continue discussion. My username is vabadunnii

Hi! So sorry for the late reply I don't get any notifications on itch, but i sent you a friend request!

Hi Hilary, I’m Viki. I came across your work on Get Us Off Earth and Scavengers Throne, especially your work on puzzle progression and leading a small team.

I’m part of a small volunteer team developing a dreamlike office puzzle game in Unreal. The player falls into dreams while working and has to recognise what has changed and solve puzzles to wake up. We’re prototyping a colour-based mechanic, but the puzzle design is still early and open to testing and improvement.

I recently stepped back from leading game design because I realised the project deserves someone who genuinely enjoys designing puzzle games. I’m staying involved in narrative and helping with the handover. Would you be interested in hearing more about taking the game-design lead, particularly the core mechanic, puzzle progression and playtesting? This is an unpaid portfolio project with no profit planned, so I want to be upfront about that. I can send a short overview and the current prototype if it sounds interesting.
