Overall I'm liking the direction the game is taking, as I stated giving the player more of a reason to actually "garden" is a good call.
My only real critique was the hot bar items not showing and accurate representation of how clean/full they are which would help if you're carrying multiples. Highlighting the door once the level is clean would be good as well.

Thank you for popping during the streams! Best of luck with the steam demo launch!

Good ideas and I have those icons planned, thanks for playing and helping me improve my game!

Hey! With FQ9 ending soon, I wanted to let you know that I won't be able to cover your game until after the event. If you're okay with waiting, just keep the game on the event and I'll be getting around to it over the next couple of months or so. :)

Developer

Thanks for letting me know, no worries! I’m planning to release the steam demo soon, I’ll let you know in case you want to have that downloaded :) Thanks for putting so much work into the event, I got a lot of really good feedback!

Hey I gave the game a play.  I definitely like the addition of the tutorial, and the coin earning.  I also like the focus on using the blood and the buckets to grow the plants.  It's a nice loop of water, mop, plant, get coins/sponges.  You've gotta balance whether you want to use the body parts to produce the blood or use them to grow.  I guess there's always enough for both, but I like that it's an option I need to think about.  I know this is something you've thought about a lot, but I would like more inventory slots!  Also needing an empty inventory slot to grab things is a little strange.  It's not that big a deal, but it just feels a little weird to me.  Also, having to always go back to the beginning of the level to get the water became a little tedious.  I thought there would maybe be a way to use the pitcher plants to produce water and/or blood, but I couldn't figure it out, or if there was another use for them.  I realize it's a small level, but it just felt like busy work.  I think you can come up with clever ways to create water and blood sources throughout levels.  I also like the new ability power ups, but the ones in the current level are a little underwhelming.  I think you definitely have some fun with this given your theme and current set of interactables.  Like so many things can be done with the sponges.  Like a sponge gun, sponge boomerang, sponge grenade.  Sponge Ice Skates.  Vampire ability, where you can suck the blood out of a body part and put it in the bucket.   But I definitely think with the cleaning and coins as you have it now, it's a very good base to build on.  Now  it's just adding fun and interesting levels.  FYI I love the Mario level in the tutorial.  I think you should lean in on things like that.  Do I remember you talking about having Doom E1M1?  But any classic game with a distinctive, recognizable style would be awesome.   Anyway, great work, and I can't wait to see where you take this!

Oops, I forgot to reply! Thank you so much for the feedback, it gave me a lot to ponder and come up with ideas! I do have some more recognizable levels planned but have a lot of mapping to do first

First, thank you again for dropping by stream!

As you already know, I had an absolute blast with this game, and I love all the updates since I played last year.  I love the graphical and sound updates, and the redone tutorial level.  The shears and coins are also great additions to the gameplay as well.

The growing head with horns was also a great touch, and so cursed.  I love how the game blends cozy cleaning vibes with cursed body bits and planting plants in them and the blood splatters LOL

I can't wait for this to hit Steam; I know I will have a ball playing it, and I'm glad I could Skyrim my way past the bug 🤣

Thank you again for playing, it was a really fun stream! And I’m glad I was there to watch that mountaineering 😂 I think you’re the first person to climbed the wall without the upgrade!

WOW! This game is becoming something really REALLY special!

I had fun playing this last year, but I think now with a proper tutorial and a great first level, I can really see the kind of game this will become.

Firstly, I LOVE the art style and the creepy-cute aesthetics. It's all remarkably well done. Just the difference between the first two levels - cleaning up the mario-esque goomba corpses and then the little town area with its own bits of lore - was really exciting to see. I am imagining each level has its own little story to tell while you clean it up, and I think that's just so fun! I can imagine how the levels will progress and grow in scale, and it's definitely exciting.

The new coin-based progression system is also a really smart way to tie the game together. It gives a real incentive to be planting things rather than just cleaning up messes, and unlocking upgrades is very satisfying. Having the level be broken up into areas with their own cleanliness percentage, too, scratches my brain in all the right ways. Finally, someone made powerwash simulator for people who like gore!

I think I probably said this last year, but I'm always on the lookout for a good podcast game - A game I can play while I listen to a podcast or an audiobook. This is shaping up to be one of the BEST in that genre. I'm really digging everything about this!

Other than that, there was an issue with the UI of the notes in the second level - words were not properly fitting on the page. There was also a sliiight bit of chugging whenever the game launched - I think it was just the game loading assets, because it fixed itself pretty fast. Pretty small things overall, and I'm definitely excited to see more of this game in the future. REALLY REALLY good stuff! I gotta go back in there so I can find out what's behind that 200 coin door!

I'm curious to know if you're planning on adding multiplayer? Obviously that's easier said than done, but I could see people getting really into playing this together.

Thanks so much for playing, the stream was a fun watch! I appreciate your patience with the notes, I probably shouldn’t have uploaded that build 💀

I definitely want to do multiplayer, but I’m not sure how complicated it will be yet. I have a few demo things to do before I can attempt anyway, because I think it would be a good idea!

Pretty good. I like the basis for the art though the early environments are quite plain and boring (though see they get more interesting in the screenshots)

I was a little confused about how to grab things since the tutorial implied you did it with the bucket when you actually need to equip your hands, and it took me a bit to realize you water plants with blood. I also find it kind of stressful and annoying how you need plants for money but also need to remove your way to gain plants to progress.

But overall I liked the cleaning mechanics, like the sponge mechanics to get a stronger mop, and the ability to launch them. There's nice feedback for watering the plants too. Overall, a pretty good time.

Thank you for playing, I’m glad you had a good time! I’ve seen people struggle with the juicer, I wonder if that first interaction with the bucket… I’ll think about it 🤔

  • Youtube Link / Twitch Link
  • Graphics : Fine , maybe less stylized than previous demo?
  • Performance : Astoundingly bad at points when compared to the previous demo , hopefully it's a relatively easy thing to fix, albeit most of it was in the hub/lobby area.
    • I also had a 'freeze' when initially loading the game, froze my entire computer for like 3-5 seconds.
  • Music / Sfx :
    • Music : WHERE'S MY MUSIC GAMMA? WHERE IS IT!? [It's fine]
    • SFX : Fine albeit some seem to be missing or could do with a touch-up.
  • GUI : Fine, but some things could be touched up.
    • E.G. The Journal Entries vary in size (minor but should be fixed regardless.).
    • Font , UX/UI and Graphical elements might want to be adjusted (unsure if done for a specific effect) , e.g. many signs have the font and graphical elements float noticeably distant in front of information boards.
  • Gameplay : Viscera cleanup gardening detail.
    • Sponges seem rather random on whether or not they last or break (1% chance?)
  • Misc Issues :
    •  Seeds / Plants & Blood and maybe coins,  seemed to get stuck under the map. This could lead to a soft-lock situation where the blood is unable to be found. In the instance it happened for me, I was able to clean it by mopping the ground where I thought it was.
  • Notes :
    • It seems like much like viscera , there isn't a "cap" to how many / much blood can be in one spot , leading to potentially rather ridiculous amounts of work to clean one spot.
    • Rotbloom felt pretty worthless to grow overall, maybe it needs to grow easier, drain blood faster, is worth more money or a combination of all the above.
    • I predominately used the sponge and the fact the sponge self-propagates relatively easily makes the rotbloom feel even more worthless.
    • I feel like there could be a grace period before a plant starts withering , once it starts withering there doesn't seem to be any way to fix it's impending death. This is particularly annoying if a plant was 80-90% done and I'm next to it with a full blood can.
      • It would also be nice for some sort of gauge on whether or not a plant is nearly grown, about to start withering or otherwise, maybe a UI element to show a % when staring directly at the plant? Maybe as a tool or an upgrade.
    • It'd be nice to have more reliable / predictable interactions, sponges, blood, cans, seeds, etc. It feels like a bit of guesswork where you need to aim and whether or not you're going to clean a thing or leave a blood puddle.
    • More physics and interactions would be nice, e.g. putting a bit of flesh in the burner barrel (Zombies map) , or flesh bits into the grinder (should I really have to 'let go' of the flesh , or should the grinder immediately grab it out of my hands and go to work?)
    • Co-op when?
    • I like the hub world , but I feel like more could be and needs to be done with it, it's rather obviously a WIP atm though so it doesn't feel quite right in critiquing it.
    • Bonus Twitch Clip
  • Final Thoughts : I still like it overall but this demo compared to the last certainly felt like a step back in a few places. I was certainly disappointed in how poorly it ran compared to last year's demo , as well as the lack of hybrid options.

Thank you for playing! I like the notes and have plans for some quick fixes and a lot of adjustments to improve the game.

And I’ve got plans for the radio, your music will return!! 😂
