It features multiple dinosaurs!
How does your game fit the additional theme "Anachronism"? Please, explain.

The concept and visual style is great! I think your project is moving in the right direction!
I looks pretty cool! Shame its not completed. I think the idea of having to take care of Dinosaurs in a modern environment is a pretty interesting one. I remember in the Jurassic Park book it brought up which plants Hadrosaurs were capable of digesting, and diseases and the like. Perhaps if you expand on the game it could have elements like that! Not much more to comment on since its so short, but I really liked the design for the art and UI it as well.
Even though the game is incomplete, I still think it's a great idea and a lot of the graphics that are done look really nice! I would be curious to play the game if you worked on it more!
The dinosaur designs and art were really cute!
Having had quite a few unfinished game jam games under my belt I have learned to prioritize getting the core game loop done as quick as possible, even if it is just using engine primitives. Then you build everything around that. That way the functional part of the game is done early, meaning you can flush out the ideas and find the fun, then everything on top of that is polish. Helps you figure out the shape of your game early (as well as figure out what you need to cut) and then you have something with a full game loop to deliver regardless how far you get into your idea. I find that organizing the project this way helps me get more done because I then know what to prioritize once the game loop is there. That approach also works well when you are working with a team because then you can give them access to the game early and they can identify where they can add to polish things. Also forces you to distill your game into its most basic form before you add to it. Hope that wasnt too rambley!
I liked where your were going with the game, little management games like this are really fun! I think you could really take this idea somewhere! Good work!
Thanks a lot! You are so right about the process. For once I authorized myself to get carried away (trying the “I’ve got a vision” approach), and it did not work. At the same time, getting the core loop done first has so many advantages. If anything, this is a confirmation that your approach suits me the best :)
Looks like an ambitous concept to me. You got quite a lot of pieces started, 2 weeks are probably too little time for getting everything done. I like such turn based games, have any plans continuing it?
I definitely want to continue it, at least until I reach the vision I had for the jam. And from there, who knows? :)
There is a bug where a residual dinosaur that you were previously raising still spawns in the sanctuary if you reload the game. The residual dinosaur does not show up in the "release" list.
I really like the dinosaur designs.
This is something that I felt when I was playing another sanctuary game from last year's DinoJam, but I think it would be great if there was an incentive or some sort of a goal for players to raise/release the dinosaurs.
Yes, I agree. Maybe the mails are not a good way to engage with the player. Maybe other characters (or like you said, some larger motivation) are better.
(also thank you for signaling the residual dinosaurs issue, many other things are not yet affected by the reset, but I’ll correct it)
Its still a pretty great achievement to release something during the game jam! I do think, if you want to continue work on the game, it needs a tutorial or some sort of explanation on how the mechanics work.
Thanks. A better onboarding sure would help :)
Disclaimer: The game is rather incomplete, but I wanted to take part regardless of the result - so I can vote for other games too :)
If you feel like it though, you can drop a comment, I’d love to have advice on what I did wrong (beside the crazy scope). Cheers!
