How does your game meet GBJam's theme
In "Mine Cellar", grapes and gold have swapped purpose, so as a wine seller you have to become a miner and mine for gold! After you mine it and bottle it, you must age it through the passage of time for it to become good enough to sell, therefore making your "gold" "old".

Interesting game, I enjoyed it for the most part. When you go to age your wine, in the year 2050 and keep adding on the date in the time settings, after 2099 it reverts back to the 1980s and your wine doesn't age. If I'm being honest, the game felt a bit boring and a little lonely. But the concept was very cool I must say, and the game does fit very well to the game boy theme and the old gold theme. Nice work!

Very nice entry.

It took me a while to grasp the full idea but when it clicked, it clicked hard. I really like your interpretation of the theme, this may be my favorite yet. The division of the palette between gold and grape is a stroke of genius.

It's a shame then, that so much of the game is spent aimlessly digging down but I understand that it's necessary to give your bottled gold time to get older, love how uncompromising you were with your initial vision. Despite that, I think that a more juicy mining minigame would have made the whole thing a lot easier to sink into.

I'm glad the idea clicked with you, and I'm glad you like the colors! My original design for the mining segment involved interactable NPCs and enemies and extra tools, which would have made the mining part more engaging, but alas the time limit had caught up with me. Thank you for taking the time to play my game!

I love the idea of going into the settings and changing the date being a game mechanic. Super cool idea! One of the few issues I had was the inability to dig straight down. Maybe I'm just a terraria player.

I'm glad you liked it! I wanted the controls to feel just a liiiiittle clunky to capture the feel of a GameBoy game, which is why I made it so you can't change x-velocity in the air or dig straight down. (Which, I did discover during testing that there's a technique to position yourself in just the right spot to let you dig straight down, and I kept it in the game because it made testing easier lol)

Thanks for making this, the "aha" moment was very rewarding!

Yay, I'm glad to hear that!

Nice work making the theme something the player does instead of something the game says, mining gold and then waiting for it to get old. and booting into a date and time screen like a cartridge with a real clock is a deep cut when thats what the ageing runs on. nice job

Thank you!
