Hey! We’re a small team developing a hand-drawn medieval dark fantasy action game about a Death Knight seeking revenge, with a heavy metal-inspired tone and soundtrack.

We already have an artist handling character art, but we’re looking for a 2D animator to join the project. We’d like to start with two small paid test pieces to see if we’re a good fit:

  1. A short combat test: knight versus an enemy
  2. A 10–20 second cinematic scene between two characters

We’re open to hand-drawn, rigged, or hybrid animation.

Please send your portfolio, rates, preferred workflow/software, and availability. If the test goes well, we’d love to keep working together.

Let us know if you’re interested!

Is this the type of work you're looking for? : https://www.brushingblooms.com/gallery/character-design

Shoot me an email if it is, you'll find in the footer

Hi! I’m very interested in your project. I’m a 2D animator, and the hand-drawn medieval dark fantasy style and heavy metal-inspired tone sound like a really interesting direction.

I’d be happy to take on the paid test pieces, including both the combat animation and the 10–20 second cinematic scene. I can send over examples of my previous animation work directly.

My rates depend on the scope and complexity of the animation, so I’d be happy to discuss the details and work out a fair price for the test pieces.

Feel free to reach out if you think my work could be a good fit!

Hello,

I replied to your 2D artist thread yesterday about the Saint-King and Death-side concepts, so you may have seen my work already. This one is closer to what I actually specialise in.

I do hand-drawn frame-by-frame cel animation, and a medieval dark fantasy with a heavy metal soundtrack is the register I already draw in.

Workflow: Clip Studio Paint for animation and illustration, Blender for background and camera setup when a scene needs it. I deliver as MP4 plus every frame as a separate PNG, or in whatever format your pipeline needs.

On the test pieces. A 10 to 20 second cinematic is closer to a finished deliverable than a test, and it is a large commitment for both of us before we know the collaboration works. I would suggest something smaller first: a 3 second animated beat from the cinematic, one of the two characters, for $200. That shows you my timing, weight, line quality and whether the style matches what you want, without either of us gambling forty hours on it.

If that works, my rate for the full sequences is $40/hr, and I would scope and quote each one properly before starting.

One thing I would need to know for the cinematic. How much of those 10 to 20 seconds is full animation versus holds, partial animation, and camera movement? A fully animated 15 second sequence and a limited-animation one of the same length are very different amounts of work, and I do not want to quote you a number based on the wrong assumption.

I should also be straightforward about the combat sequence. My animation experience is cinematic and character work rather than game combat with hit timing and impact frames. I can do it, but it would be my first, and you should know that before deciding.

Available to start this week.

Here's my discord; evanwyatt . Feel free to contact me if the project is still available we have a quite few thing to discuss.

Hey! I’m definitely interested in working on this project. I’m a 2D animator and illustrator with solid experience in character animation, dynamic action sequences, combat animation, and cinematic scenes. I’m comfortable bringing characters to life through expressive movement, strong posing, timing, and impactful action, while keeping the animation consistent with the existing art direction.

I can work with hand-drawn animation as well as hybrid/rig-based workflows, and I’m comfortable adapting my approach depending on the project’s needs. I especially enjoy fantasy and darker themes, so the Death Knight concept and heavy-metal-inspired atmosphere really caught my attention.

I’d be happy to take on both paid test pieces and show you what I can bring to the project.

I’d love to hear more about the animation style and workflow you have in mind!
