Cute game the end really caught me off guard! The camera/movement felt a bit jittery and it would have been nice to have a more detailed map but I enjoyed it! The sfx and the music fit really well. I loved especially finding the first paw after digging and knowing exactly what to do with it!
Excellent game!Extremely polished, really fun. Great ending, great art, great everything. Only reason I didn't give you 5/5 on gameboy soul is it was too polished!
Suffering from success, haha
Very charming and well made pixel graphics here, from the tileset and the icons to the little animal npcs, you did a splendid job! The music was also quite relaxing to zone out to while gathering and or just randomly destroying blocks for no reason, even the sfx was well chosen. Gameplay is quite fun and relaxing although I found myself getting lost at times. Although I noticed that I could phase through blocks from the start so that got me even more lost than I should have, as well as the camera following the character feeling really jittery which made it slightly dizzying. Besides that, overall a well made and wonderful entry! Thank you for making this!
Spoilers:
I also liked that abrupt sequence at the end just being a god vessel while chill beats played in the background. Peak NGL
Thank you for the kind review! I've already started tinkering on the jittery camera and phasing through objects, so that will improve soon hopefully :) Thanks again!
Fun game! I managed to get to the end.. eventually. In the middle I spent a long time searching for one last gem/ore, before just doing a grid-wise complete search of the map, which wasn't as much fun. It would have been nice if there were a few extra gems around so you didn't have to find every single one before advancing. Definitely got easier once I had the tools to simply walk in a straight line across the map, but that also was less fun than the earlier exploring. Graphics were nice, even if the character was a bit twitchy when moving. The world an animations were great. Audio also really nice!
Thanks for playing. You're totally right about me adding to sprinkle in a few spare gems here and there :)
I really enjoyed it! The vibes are perfect. My only complaint is the game's economy is a tad odd. You can be halfway through the industrial revolution with regards to the basic materials before you have enough crystals to really progress the game at all. But that is nitpicking at the end of the day, this is a fantastic game jam entry.
Haha, that's a fair observation! Maybe I should add the possibility to build, so you have something to do with all of those materials ;)
Very cute! Loved the soundtrack too ^^
Thank you for the kind words! <3
Man, I really enjoying playing this one. I literally broke every block in the just for funzies...
The pixel art, music and sfx are super neat, really well made.
If I have a critique is that the first 5 crystal are a little hard to find, but it's ok so.
Cool game, congrats!!!
Thanks for destroying our little town! Glad you had fun :)
Such a chill game, and smashing through stuff with those crunchy sfx is so satisfying
Glad to hear :D
this was really fun, very good game feel on the mining. The graphics are very polished. The movement is a bit shaky sometimes, which makes the camera shake as well. But other then that I enjoyed digging up those hidden collectables! (ps. fun way of finding fellow dutch indies!)
Glad to hear you had fun! Yeah the shaky cam is a known issue partially caused by the game being so zoomed in, but the movement doesn't help. Greetings back from a fellow Dutchie!
I had a lot of fun exploring, but for some reason in the browser version it wouldn't actually capture my inputs, so I'd press buttons and it would also wiggle my entire browser tab. I finally reach the digging stuff up point and the keyboard commands ended up just.... Backing out of the entire screen u.u
That said! I did have a lot of fun! The music was great, and all the interactions felt tight and crisp.
I noticed that too :( Thought it was an issue specific to my Firefox. Were you using the right Ctrl button? In full-screen and using spacebar it seems fine. Or just the desktop version :) Anyway thanks for playing!
I really struggled to find enough gems to unlock the next tool. Im not sure if im stupid or missing something? The tile based targetting/movement system is neat, however I managed to clip through walls a few times. I like the visuals and chill gameplay and music. I think maybe there should be extra gems so you can miss a few and still be fine.
You're probably right, haha!
I absolutely flattened that landscape! Destroyer of ecosystems, leveller of walls. Satisfying harvesting crunch to those SFX. The ending was great.
I loved the style and idea. well done. I found it very hard to find enough diamonds to unlock the next tool. I got the pickaxes and then I searched the entire map multiple times…and finally gave up, being 1 diamond short for the next tool. either mark the diamonds on the map, or add a compass or add more diamonds….
anyways, well done!
That's fair! Pretty much all gold/diamonds are visible either in a building or visible from the road. Which tool tier are you currently on, because I could mark them on the map for you?
I have the pickaxe (2nd tool), and got the map and the key. I guess next I have to go to the guy that wants rocks.
Here you go :) https://drive.google.com/file/d/1c_0cQVE40H8j5ueqkfbcvzHppVAjhvDe/view?usp=drive...
thanks! I finished the game. I liked it.
One of the gameboy souls capturing games by style. Love it!
only thing that is bothered me is that wen you walk camera is jiggling , but thats i guess is the limitation of gameboy accurate not being able to halves of pixels
Thanks for playing! That is indeed the reason, but perhaps next time we can scroll the camera in sections instead of it following the player to the pixel. You live, you learn! :)
Cute little game, enjoyed playing.
But contains more than four colors due to some antialiasing or so.
You have anti-aliasing in this game? Interesting. May I ask which browser you're using?
Anyway thanks for playing!
When I make a screenshot and I zoom in, you can actually see the soft edges. With that, you get different colors.
I've tested it with Chrome on macOS.
I also just did the same with our own game, we have hard edges. So I don't think it has something to do with my browser or so. :)
nay, they valid, no antialising that i saw
I think it depends on the browser. however there are some sub-pixel movements:
but hey: technology! I wouldn’t grade this down because of that, the intention was clear - there was no smuggling in more colors to make it look better.
congrats to the game again!
Yeah, the sub-pixel movement is a quirk of the engine (Clickteam Fusion) exporting to HTML that I couldn't fix. The Windows build should be pixel-perfect.
miaow miaow
Mi-aow! :3
I spent way longer just mining than I thought I would
Half of my playtesting was literally just this :P
