Hi there. I'm Hythrain, one of the hosts for Feedback Quest. I'm here to talk with you about your entry to the event.
As an event, Feedback Quest is designed to allow developers to gain feedback on their in-development games in order to improve them. When I came across your game while streaming entries, I found myself at odds to whether your entry would qualify as a valid entry for the event. While it does have a "game" to it, there are some aspects of it that make it feel like it doesn't quite belong, including...
1. The "game" is more about demoing asset plugins rather than being a standalone game.
2. There's nothing that other participants can give feedback on when it comes to gameplay, due to the fact that the various games are just casino games or board games with set rules. The only thing that can be spoken of is the presentation and visual aspects, which is far more limiting and excludes an important part of Feedback Quest's intent: to make gameplay better.
3. Looking through the "game" page and your user page in general, this is clearly already a product you're selling. This makes its inclusion in Feedback Quest feel more like trying to advertise and promote your product than something you're trying to get feedback on.
On top of this, it was recently revealed to me that it's possible to look up data to see if entrants are rating other games; we have a rule that entrants need to rate at least one game, to which I know you've not rated one. While this is true for a lot of people (and I intend to make use of this resource in future events to ensure proper enforcement of rules), your entry is (so far as I've encountered) the only one that also has the other issues going on.
Rather than disqualify you outright, I instead chose to speak with another of our hosts. We decided to take the issue to the Discord community for Feedback Quest to get their thoughts on whether the entry should stay. Along with a general discussion, we ran a poll asking those who engaged in the discussion if your entry qualified enough to remain. I let the poll run for 18 of the originally planned 24 hours, where we received 23 votes. The vote was 17 to 6 that your entry does not qualify. As such, I'm going to be disqualifying your entry.
The entry will still remain accessible and you're more than welcome to speak with me here if you think the entry should be re-qualified. I'm willing to change my mind and do so if you can make a strong enough case.
I understand and thank you for the response, candidness and understand every bit. I will try to do better next time if I post to another one of these jams.
Gacha Slot Machines
Mechanics-wise, it's easy to pick up. I didn't struggle to adjust even as a first-time player. That said, I feel like it's lacking in the challenge department. It does have weighted drop tables and rarity tiers, but once you get the pattern down, there's not much tension left. Maybe consider adding a streak/pity system or some kind of scaling difficulty so there's still a reason to keep playing even for veteran players.
Vendor Kiosks & Merchant Shops
This is where I actually stopped and went "wait, that can't be intended." As long as your gold count is high enough you can just buy infinitely, no daily reset, no stock depletion, nothing. For something billed as a themed kiosk system with its own stock and pricing, that's a pretty big gap. My fix list:
Claw Machine Arcade Game
Solid little minigame loop, movement and drop timing feel responsive. But the "surprise" factor is kind of dead on arrival since every prize uses the same visual, so you already know what you're grabbing before you grab it. Swap in varied box/container sprites so the reveal actually means something. Also the claw's grip felt a little too forgiving once you figure out the timing window, tightening that up plus adding a pity/consolation token system once a player hits a spending threshold would make losses feel less like a dead end.
Casino Core — Gambling Games
Roulette's biggest limitation right now is single-number betting only. No split bets, no covering multiple numbers per round. That's a huge chunk of actual roulette strategy missing, letting players stack multiple number bets in one spin would make this feel like an actual casino system instead of a coinflip with extra steps.
