Hey all — sharing a vertical slice I’ve been building in RPG Maker MZ. The hook: there’s no battle scene. I replaced the turn-based loop with a real-time action battle system that plays entirely on the map. Enemies are map events — you close in, swing directionally, break their poise, and cut them down where they stand. Dodge has invulnerability frames, the heavy attack shatters guards, and resting at a grace point refills your flask before you press deeper into the keep.
What’s in the slice:
Four maps in a straight descent — outer gate, ash courtyard, inner gate, throne room Real-time combat with light/chain/heavy attacks, dodge i-frames, and a poise/stagger system Two bosses (a two-phase Rotwood Warden and the final Sovereign of Ash) Three recruitable companions who fight as independent combatants and can fall on their own Grace-point bonfires: save, rest, refill the Ashen Flask, spend Runes on a trait tree A crafting forge, a keep economy you manage between fights, warded doors, and a raid you can’t skip
The honest framing: this started as a way to show a set of RPG Maker MZ plugins working together in a real, shipped project rather than in a test map — the trait tree, the keep/economy system, crafting, lockpicking, and enemy scaling are all doing real work here. But it grew into something I actually wanted people to play, so I tuned it as a game first.
It’s free to claim for the next two weeks (through Aug 28) while I gather feedback — after that it goes back to $5. Windows build. If you try it, I’d genuinely love notes on the combat feel and the difficulty curve on the first boss — that’s the part I’ve iterated most.
Made with generative-AI assistance for some code and the cover art (disclosed on the page).
Hey everyone!
I make browser-based BGM generators for RPG Maker — each one is a single .html file that composes and synthesizes original background music from scratch (pure Web Audio, no samples), then exports game-ready looping .ogg with LOOPSTART/LOOPLENGTH tags that MZ and MV read for seamless loops, plus .wav for DAW editing. No install, no account, runs entirely offline in your browser.
I just released two big seasonal ones, both free / pay-what-you-want:
SAMHAIN — Halloween & Horror
53 scenes across 13 categories (Haunted House, Graveyard, Witchcraft, Monsters, Slasher, Gothic, Occult, Spooky-Fun, Cosmic, Folk Horror, Undead, Phantom, Carnival), built from 12 genuinely different musical forms so nothing sounds the same: creepy music box, a John-Carpenter-style synth pulse, gothic organ, ritual choir + drums, spooky jazz-noir, creepy carnival waltz, ambient dread, slasher chase, orchestral stabs, folk-horror ritual, eerie theremin, and playful “spooky-fun.”

YULETIDE — Christmas & New Year
52 scenes across 13 categories (Carols, Over the Snow, Candlelight, Nutcracker, Winterland, Fireside, Cozy Jazz, Nativity, Frost & Snow, New Year’s Eve, Ballroom, Year’s End), also built from 12 different forms: choral carol, jingling sleigh ride, music box, cozy holiday jazz, church organ, a Tchaikovsky-style nutcracker, winter folk, fireside ambient, sparkling bell choir, a midnight countdown (ticking clock → riser → fanfare), big-band swing, and a grand Viennese waltz.

Both share the same easy workflow: pick a category → pick a scene → nudge 6 sliders (mood, tempo, sparkle, space…) → hit Play → Export the .ogg → drop it in your project’s audio/bgm/ folder. There’s also Form / Meter / Palette / Key / Length control, and every “reshuffle” rolls a fresh seed — the seed + sliders reproduce any track exactly, so you can always get a piece back.
All the music is original and yours to use in commercial or free projects, no attribution required — the tools emulate styles, they don’t contain or reproduce any existing songs or recordings.
Grab them (and the rest of my stuff)
These join a growing shelf of BGM generators and RPG Maker plugins on my page — everything’s in one place here:

I’d genuinely love for you to try them and let me know what you think — which scenes or moods you’d want added, anything that sounds off, feature requests, or other seasons/genres you’d like to see next. Thanks for checking them out, and happy dev-ing!
Hey everyone, hope all is well,
I want to help bring some of the interesting ideas you’ve got kicking around to life through custom plugins — the kind of stuff you want to show off in your game. Want to simulate timelapses on specific scenes automatically? I got you. Want faction wars between multiple parties to play out automagically? I got you. If it sounds too weird to build, that’s usually the stuff I have the most fun with.
I can only take on so many per week with my resources, so it’s first-come, first-served. When a slot’s full, it’s full — but I’ll keep a list and work down it.
Some things I’ll need from you:
What does the plugin need to do? Describe the end result — as in, after all is said and done, it needs to do this exact thing. The more specific, the better (including what should happen in the weird edge cases). Have you seen this in other games? If it’s out there already it makes my life way easier — tell me where so I can see it in action. What are your parameters? Aesthetics, rules, best practices you want highlighted, anything that shapes how it should look and behave. Genre and theme of your game (Horror-JRPG, Racing-Sidescroller, Military-TTRPG, etc.) — I’ll tailor whatever I can to match the vibe.
A couple of quick notes so we’re on the same page: let me know your RPG Maker MZ version and whether you’re running any big plugin frameworks (VisuStella and the like), since that changes how I build things. And I’ll always run the plan by you before I start coding, so we catch any misunderstandings before they’re buried in the plugin.
For those who don’t want to post publicly and need some privacy on their ideas, just email me at rpgmakerplugins@protonmail.com and we’ll keep the thread going there.
Lastly — everything I’m doing is donation-based, a side hobby I genuinely enjoy. So if you like the work and don’t mind shelling out a few $$$, I will not say no, haha. Either way, bring me your strange ideas.
Cheers!
Oh, and while you’re here — I’ve already got a whole shelf of stuff up on my page you can grab right now, no request needed:
🎼 BGM Generators for days — forge your own loop-ready OGG tracks right in the browser. Dark-fantasy Souls-like battle themes, post-apocalyptic wastes, Italian-mob crime waltzes, arcade-racing bangers, underwater ambient, Zelda-style overworld tunes, Holy-Land oud & ney… if it’s got a vibe, there’s probably a generator for it.
🧩 Plugins that do the weird useful things: Evolving Enemy Powerscaling (early enemies never go stale), RealTimeEvents (fire events on true real-world time, any timezone), Found Footage (turn your game into a VHS horror overlay), Gacha & Cash Shop systems, SimpleMerge fusion, local Wi-Fi Multiplayer, and a Mobile Touch Adapter to get your game playable on phones.
Some of it’s completely free, some is a couple bucks to keep the lights on — all of it commercial-use friendly, lightweight, and documented so you’re not fighting it at 2am.
👉 Take a look: https://rpg-maker-plugins.itch.io/
Follow while you’re there so you catch new drops — and if something’s almost what you need but not quite, that’s exactly what the custom requests above are for. 😉
