How does your game meet GBJam's theme
The game is about a wealthy retired pirate with a lot of gold from his adventures on forgotten lands and buried treasures, who wishes to pass this riches to anyone that can overcome his challenges.

Really fun game! It eventually got pretty challenging, but I always suck at timing mechanics. I never felt like the game cheated me, the mistakes felt completely my own so that's difficulty done right. I got defeated a few times but kept coming back, it was a good time!
Graphics are fantastic. The black, red, and gold is striking and creates a cool vibe. The art for the capn' is great, he looks cute.
Soundtrack and FX are here, nothing standout but also nothing grating. It meets expectations!
Gameboy Soul is here, this would have totally been on the shelf back in the day when I was deciding what to bring home from Toys 'R Us.
Quirkiness is pretty good, this is pretty unique. The banter added to a quirky feeling to it.
Secondary theme interpretation: There is gold, I assume it is old. Interpretation check met.
I really like the captain and the banther he has between levels :) Being put back to the beginning is indeed a lil rough, but acceptable for the jam. Modern games like mario just punish you with losing score or something, that way you reward getting better at the game and punish less for just messing up.
I wish maybe collisions were a bit more forgiving. I know precise collision like this makes it easy to see when you get hit or not. But skewing it a favor of the players adds a little bit of wiggle room for experimentation.
Congrats on a fun entry!
This is a nice little game. I liked the design of the levels, and the progression between them. I do wish losing all your lives didn't bring you all the way back to the beginning. Good job!
I made it to level 12, which is the room that introduces diagonal lines. It was a nice shake-up for sure but maybe you could have thrown them at me in a safer room first haha.
it's a fairly simple idea, and I felt like there was too much waiting around to want to replay it for the clear. on the other hand, it's decently fun.
Also, I felt like at some point you could stop showing the message that tells you "collect all gold!" when you cross over the goal. Especially in the room (9?) where the goal is right next to the start, it just felt silly having a text box obscure the screen while I'm sitting on limited lives.
I like the player character's idle animation!
I enjoyed this game. Cute, straightforward, and reminded me of the flash era of the internet. I would prefer a bit of a mix-up with the music every now and then, but I still enjoyed me time with it, YARR
Love the art, and the sounds for Captain O'Greddy talking was funny. The gameplay is very basic but also enjoyable. I made it to level 7 but the pattern on the right I couldn't quite get past, maybe I had to wait longer for a gap to appear. I didn't want to redo my progress but still had a good time with what I played.
I really like the art style, and the gameplay reminded me of worlds hardest game a bit, it is really frustrating having to replay all the easy levels to get back to the hard one you failed though. The progression of difficulty is a bit random too i thought, but maybe thats just me. But the puzzles were all fun to solve, cool game!
