This is the third grave robbing game, gbjam what is wrong with you??? /jk

The concept is neat, maybe a bit too easy difficulty wise, but it is a neat gameplay experience once you get through the controls, which I struggled with. Dug the small holes and was confused why I didn’t find anything. Oopsies I guess.

Graphics wise I liked everything, they were small and cute, the priest at the top was having the time of his life hula dancing while I was chased by an endless undead horde.

Music was cool, had a nice funny eerie vibe to it.

Overall, cool game, well done!

Fun game! I really liked the music and enjoyed the direction you went with the jam theme.

Some feedback:
I was able to get the tithe without buying any of the other usable items.
The skeletons off-screen chased me the entire time, so what ended up happening was they clumped together all on the left side, and I was able to scoot across the right side of the screen in relative safety and then half of the map was clear back to the church.

Wonderful game. I absolutely love the graphics, the gameplay is interesting aswell. I took a bit to understand, but it was my problem for sure. Good job.

What a nice entry, full of charm.

The gameplay loop is a bit opaque at first but that's on me : I did not read your tutorial. After understanding that I had to hold Z for the grave to get dug everything wen't smoothly. Very nice gameplay loop, having to remove each teeth individually while the skeletons grew closer is a super nice touch.

I won't repeat too much what others have already said but tools are mostly not worth the price they're sold at. I've used my initial stash but never felt the need to buy more. I think the holy water would be a lot better (and more valuable) if it was thrown a bit further. As it is, it's basically a worse version of the shovel.

Still, extremely solid entry, I had a really pleasant time.

This was fun and I loved stealing teeth! Got a little confused on using items and eventually I was unable to dig after dropping some holy water on accident. Fun game!

Took me digging up a few graves to figure out how I was going to pay for my ticket to safety. The microgame for stealing the gold teeth is simple fun. A bit of randomness and having to navigate the row while there are living dead afoot!

I actually never used any of the other equipment. Just simple dodgin' and diggin' for me. Got 40 teeth and straight into that church. The trees were a bit of interesting challenge that almost got me caught a couple times. Having a sort of trap that could be placed and a way to destroy some undead seems cool, but I never found much incentive or need for them. Having gates that can be opened and closed could be a fun way to escape or reroute the undead. Some kind of hazard like a ghost that patrols a row of tiles horizontally back and forth. Something to slow you down or complicate your escape route a bit.

Had fun. Great work, keep at it!

Thanks for playing! You really drilled in on what was left on the cutting room floor. I had initially intended there to be multiple levels with gold carrying over from level to level and enemy behaviors getting more complex, but had to cut all that for time. You can absolutely play with just digging and dodging, and lowkey the shovel is a better defensive tool than the incense cause if you dig a hole that a skeleton falls into, you can bury the skeleton stunning them for way longer than the incense does.

I accidentally started digging holes on tiles that weren't in front of graves and just took that as whoops you missed dumby. I never realized you could dig a hole and lure a skeleton into it and then walk over them. That's a really fun defensive option and it's multiple uses for a single action, nice!

I can really see the Rally X influence! I had fun playing  the game but unfortunately I didn't make it very far, I dug all the graves I could find, to the side, one tile down, two tiles down, and couldn't find any teeth so my journey came to a short end. Still I had fun and the music was a bop!

Developer

Thank you for playing! A body can be found in the tile directly in front of every single grave, and you'll know you hit one when you see a skull once you've fully dug the hole.

The gameplay choice for the secondary theme is great! But when playing I couldn't find any gold even digging +8 holes, I am not sure if its not balance or if it is a bug. The art is great!

Developer

Thank you for playing! Gold can be found by digging the tile directly in front of a headstone, inside you'll find a body you can steal teeth from.

yeah I tried that! Pressing X and Z right above the skeleton after digging the grave didn't collected any gold. Am I missing something?

Developer

Pressing X once you've dug up a grave opens a minigame where you can pull teeth from the skull.
