Feature Request: Search bar & Tag filters for the Game Jams page

Hi everyone,

I love game jams and participating in the itch.io community, but finding the right jam has become increasingly difficult as the platform grows.

Right now, the Game Jams directory is basically a massive chronological list. While it's great to see major events featured (like GMTK and other big jams), finding smaller, niche jams—such as card game jams, specific engine challenges, or particular themes—is almost impossible directly on itch.io. Most of the time, I only find out about them through external Discord servers or Twitter/X.

### The Problem:

* **Information overload:** Browsing through hundreds of ongoing and upcoming jams manually takes too much time.

* **Low visibility for niche jams:** Smaller communities struggle to get noticed unless people already follow them outside itch.io.

### Proposed Solution:

1. **Search Bar:** A simple keyword search within the Game Jams page (searching titles and descriptions).

2. **Tag / Category Filters:** Being able to filter jams by genre/mechanic (e.g., *card game, horror, narrative*), engine (e.g., *Godot, Pico-8*), or duration (e.g., *weekend, 1 month*).

Having even basic filtering or search functionality would make it much easier for developers to discover communities that match their specific interests, and would give smaller organizers much better reach.

Are other devs/jammers feeling the same friction when browsing for jams? How do you currently discover smaller events?

Thanks for considering this!

I have just create another post related to this. Jam categories. I make physical games and it’s hard to find the TTRPGs jams.

Yeah, totally! I'm also interested in filtering to join game jams and try out card games and board games (both physical and digital), so I'd love to be able to filter them to find them more easily.

Not sure if this is the right way to do it, but could you paste the link to the other discussion in this thread so they stay connected?
