Hi there, beautiful people! I’m looking for my first jam. Narrative design, branching dialogues, quests, item descriptions… all that jazz. My experience: wrote a book; also have an example of a dialogue. (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1sT1cdbwy7lSVKlANIT3-ta825tYzomDA/view?usp=sharing)

Hey! I'm making a game called "Murder Manor" for the jam and it's about 5 murderers getting stuck in a manor together and having to survive for 7 days, I waas thinking I'd make it Visual Novel style, I'd love to work with you if the idea sounds interesting

“Murder Manor” sounds interesting enough. But I have some worries about the scope. 7 days, 5 characters with a possibility of meaningful branching dialogues — sounds like quite a task to complete in 7 days. Only if we make it short (like 15 minutes high stake game), many dialogues must be linear for that matter… only then it can be managable. What are your thoughts about the future game?

Let me clerify. Were you talking about 5 murderers or 5 possible murderers and the main character should find who the killer was?

5 murderers, including the player

Ok. I have an idea for the plot. What gameplay features do you want to include? I mean like farming “good points” by picking the right answers maybe? Or maybe little inventory and basic items in there? How do you see it?

I was thinking the game could be about etablishing temporary alliances with the other murderers in order to survive. As for items and stats the only things I think should be included is food(a hunger system for all characters, and hunger impacts the NPCs too, knives and guns. The characters would have a personality and a relationship system to the player so that the player can form alliances depending on their needs. Due to the complexity of narrative I was willing to drastically sacrifice graphics if it comes with more time to work on  dialogue and complex systems to make it so no two runs are the same since you can betray everyone and everyone can betray you.

To ease comunication here is my discord: shadejay12

Let me be honest with you. I thought that I would be able to work on this project 1-2 hours a day to meet the deadline, but the time and scope are not something I can fit together. I just don’t want to drag you behind. But on another hand if the deadline is not important to you, then we can work. What do you say?

Hi, I had given up on participating in this gamejam due to the complexity of this project. But if you are still interested in bringing this project to life with me without following the jam's deadline it's perfecty doable. It's up to you if you see potential in this project and would like to help me work on it.

Ok then. Let’s work. I will write you in discord about the story and how I see the plot, and we will continue communicating there.

Sorry mate, something changed in my life. Have little free time and different priorities. I’m sorry for wasting your time.

Hello, Arbenon. My game is a more contained. If you are interested I am really looking into someone taking care of the narrative aspect of the game since I am not much of a creative person.

Hi there! Just wondering, what do you have in mind?

(1 edit)

Well, I am not really doing anything special. Without entering in the whole idea of the game, there're some NPCs around the corners that gives you clues so you can get out. The things is that the map is changing so you can't take their clues as true unless some requeriments are met. There's not really a (conditional) dialogue, it's only them. I'm also open to improve the game itself, if you had any idea in the way.

Sounds interesting enough, but at the moment I have different priorities. Thanks and good luck with the game!
