I love roguelites! I had a crazy build going but didn't build health so I ended losing to several bad rolls, such is the nature of life. Very fun, I enjoyed!

That was fun, I liked it a lot! The idea of a cozy roulette roguelike where you help a hungry squirrel fill his stash before winter was a fun touch.

It’s a cool game and I really enjoyed it, but there are some minor optimization issues—after day 20, the whole game just turned into a slideshow.

Developer

Thank you! Yes I ran out of time for optimization but I have a new version I'll be putting up as a steam demo that's much better optimized.

Thank you! I've been expanding the game and will put the demo on steam after the jam

Fun and really interesting gambling games, even if you quickly run out of lives. The game’s still really cool, though! Well done for this project.

Not my type of game, but the presentation is awesome.

This game feels really polished and is fun to play. I love the little animations of the squirrel and the sounds are very convincing. Very well done! I believe after a while there isn't much of a challenge anymore, once you figure out the right upgrades you can just keep going. I couldn't get to finish this game though since the acorn physics started wrecking the performance of my computer.

GAMBLINGGGGGG

There needs to be more slots or more items for healing 😭 I had 2 6x healing items on day 16 and bought the one-time heal item every day and still died because i couldn't heal fast enough 😭

Developer(+1)

Yeah it definitely needs better balancing for the late game stages, you basically have a lot of money and no health. Will update it after the jam!

Very addicting gameplay and I really liked the look of the acorns!

This game was suuuuuper addictive. I sat down and played it for an hour straight. The rules are kinda hard to understand at first, but once it clicks, the game is fantastic. Super amazing game!

Also I like how the roulette wheel is in the stump lol

I got so many acorns that the game started running at 0-3 fps

Developer(+1)

That's crazy you were able to get that many acorns. I definitely need to balance it but so glad to hear you played it for an hour!

If you have any suggestions on how to make it easier to understand at the start I'd really appreciate it.

For a game jam it's hard to make a really good tutorial, but usually "show don't tell" is a good way to get instructions across. Like you get have a roulette wheel image with an arrow going out on each color type, and then the arrow points to a short description. Ex. 0 would point to "Win acorns, deal damage", 1 would point to "Increase appetite", 2 would point to "dodge attack"
Then for explaining appetite say "bigger appetite = bigger multiplier"
For betting, maybe just say "bet on 0. higher bet = more acorns and damage, but higher cost. "
Upgrades made sense and were intuitive to me though.
Also build multiplier was kinda confusing at first so maybe say "bigger build multiplier = bigger multiplier" with the bigger appetite explanation.
Idk what i'm saying anymore lol, but show don't tell is really hard to execute sometimes, so even aiming for less text can make learning the game less daunting.

(Also im not a pro lol)

Fantastic game, I loved the sound of the acorn going around the wheel. I liked the art of the animals and the power ups. Also how do the physics work for the acorn it felt really solid and natural. A fun addition might be giving the user a counter pick. Where the user can pick Red 7 and if it lands on red 7 Zero performs a counter attack, I just thought it would be fun to allow the user to bet on their favorite number too lol. Over all great game!

Developer

Thank you! The acorn really is physics: it circles the track, then drops into a hidden physics copy of the wheel (studs, pocket dividers, spinning stump), and wherever it settles is your result. The ticks you hear are its real bounces. Love the counter-pick idea too; I think I'll add a favorite-number bet as one of the charms after the jam!

Love the expressions and how his eyes follow the acorn as it spins around. Great little details. my one critique is, there's too much text to read to get into the game, I understand it's important but it'd be nice if there was an easier way to present it than a wall of rules.

All in all, great submission though!

Lol, those expressions are pretty funny! And the game is addictive!

Really nice art and effects, the game also feels very complete overall. Very well done!

I got a so great first run  and now every new game it get worse and worse.... ;(

Keep gambling guys...

Wow Awsome Game ! It feel so polished with the camera effects and everything ! Had a blast :)

Developer

Thanks so much! I finally figured out how to scope down enough to deliver polish in a 3-day jam lol

Submitted

Did you had more things planned that you scrapped to be in the 3 days deadline ?

Developer

I feel like I scoped it pretty well from the start (which is the improvement over my usual scramble to de-scope at the end), but I did want to have a much more interactive wheel where each number is unique. Right now it's basically green/red/black but within red/black there's no difference.

Submitted

Oh that's a great idea to push the game even further ! For now the numbers feel like they do something even if they don't.

Well I have a lot to learn from you because I have scrapped like half of my game on the last day XD

Thanks for your replie !

Damn, that's a polished game. Cool artstyle you've got there. The gambling part is kinda weird in this game since I had like 10 1s or 2s in a row, so I had to wait a long time lol, and I could bet to the max and I wasn't able lose easily. Congrats on the game!
